Vegas Help Please!

Vegas Help Please!

My parents want to go to Las Vegas and asked me to book their hotel. Here is some background.

They are in their 60s, typical little old Italian couple, have NEVER been on a vacation and have slept in a hotel like two times in their life. They are pretty active but I don't want them TOO far from the action.

Should I be looking at hotels that are 'on the strip' 'off the strip' or 'downtown.' I would prefer something close to many activities. They gamble but will also want to go to buffets (their FAVE) and shows.

Also, they want to go to the Grand Canyon - any ideas on how to arrange that? Would they HAVE to rent a car?

Thanks for any help. I can't believe they want to go!

they should stay on the strip.

Since your parents are old school italian they might love the venetian. The bellagio is nice and in the center but not sure how much you want to spend.

There is an official site for las vegas and it has all the activities you can do and will list a number to set up the whole grand canyon trip

My best friend's parents are in their mid-60s and they absolutely love staying at Harrah's! They stay there in Vegas and in AC when they go there. It's not as glamorous as some of the other hotels but maybe that's what they're looking for. HTH!

venetian is great (prob my fav hotel) but its not centrally located so that might be an issue. i've stayed at the flamingo hilton (pretty central on the strip, nice but not spectacular) and the brand new planet hollywood (loved it, DH went back there again for his bach party) but it's a lot more modern and i'm not sure i'd recommend it for your parents -- it's right across from the bellagio though.

i'd say the Paris --- similar atmosphere to the Venetian but better location, greaaaaat food, not too modern/edgy, beautiful, higher end but not as expensive as the bellagio/wynn, etc

their breakfast is to die for

def have them on the strip. Try the Bellagio, Venetian maybe even Mandalabay. They are all very nice, classy hotels.

i was about to say hotel paris. It is right in the middle and its not like other hotels where you have so many young ppl and gets crazy. When i went in there it was alot more quiet and laid back.

We stayed at Bellagio and did a tour of the Grand Canyon. We did a helicopter tour though. It was really beautiful. We just went to the front desk and they made all the arrangements for us.

I think they might like the Venetian too. There are so many gorgeous hotels on the strip, I can see why it would be hard to choose. But the Venetian has an Italian theme, which your parents might like.

Paris is pretty, I love Mandalay, I also love the Palms. Flamingo has improved a whole lot the past few years. For luxury, I like CP. Venetian is nice, but huge, I don't know how well they get around. A lot of people like the Wynn, I met hubby there!

i stayed at palms and loved it but its off the strip infact its all the way on the other side and you need to take a cab to the strip so not sure if your parents want to do that. Plus theres a very young crowd there and the pool at palms they always have parties and its all young ppl, getting drunk, loud music and i really dont think your parents will like that. Plus at night it gets packed with everyone coming in for the clubs.

Mandalay is also a young crowd

Flamingo is great as well. Harrahs too. I would def. recommend them staying on the strip.

I would def say Paris. My mom has stayed there and other ones..and she said it's quieter, not too many loud young people and it is centrally located. Plus it's not ridiculously large that they will get lost like Ceasars & MGM.

I would reccomend your parents NOT rent a car. It's too crazy to drive in Vegas and you don't need to if you're on the strip. Once you book the hotel, you can ask them about getting the the Grand Canyon..there are lots of different things they can do.
