Vegas this weekend: to renew or not?

Vegas this weekend: to renew or not?

We'll be in Vegas this weekend for our 1st anniversary and I can't decide if I want to renew our vows or not.

Part of me thinks its a cute (cheesy) idea, but part of me feels like its too soon. Like I'm still dealing with stuff from my original wedding (waiting for album, fixing dress, etc) - that I don't need the renewal yet and maybe we should wait.

Al could go either way. We already decided we're going to get decked out the night we see 'O' and have dinner at Nobu. But I won't be in wedding garb, just an evening dress. We're just going for a relaxing weekend (some tennis, pool, etc) and to see the show. We're not gamblers (Al hates casinos actually).

We always joke that we're just going to keep getting married over and over, but since we were just in our wedding attire for the ball, I don't have the urge, but I don't want to regret not doing it. Maybe I'll just see how we feel once we're there.

thoughts?

Oh Lisa, I wish I was you! I was actually just checking up vacation deals for Vegas around our anniversary. I thought Stef's idea was so cute and would love to renew our vows and just be silly and cheesy on our anniversary! It's totally up to you, and you could renew at anytime, so don't feel bad if you don't.
Have fun though ... I'll be thinking of you guys!!

Hmmm - you could wait and see how you feel when you get there. I think renewing vows is a cute idea, but maybe it would be more meaningful on a bigger anniversary? Then again, if the ceremony is done with Elvis in the room does it really matter?!

Either way, have a great trip!

When we go next year we are going to do it. You better do it so I can get ideas from you. It is cheesy but it will be memorable, take lots of pix.

its a cute idea...but if you do it...do a 'casual' one...just wear whatever dress and find an elvis impersonator...

I think you should do it ONLY if you are really into it. Otherwise, Vegas will be waiting when and if you want to do it down the road.

Its a few hundred bucks so you might as well use that money on something you reallly want if you its not the wedding.

I agree with Stef... if you're not really into it - do it next time!
P.S. I don't think it's cheesy at all -- It sounds like a lot of fun!

Once you are there, if you feel the urge - then absolutely go for it!!!

I think it is sweet!

I would probably wait a few years and then make it special; maybe see if some family/friends want to join you, etc.

My brother's friend did this, their MOH and BM joined them to be their witnesses again and their kids joined them. It was cute.

I say go for it. Make it fun. Maybe do a theme. Have fun with it. Its your first anniversary, and have fun celebrating.

Friends of ours got Married Oct 13, 2000 and in November of 2000 they renewed their vows. A friend of ours that owns a bar/motorcycle garage is also an ordained minister (go figure) and they did this huge renewel of the vows in the bar. She wore a cute little white dress and he wore nice pants and a button down. he had the same best man and I forgot who was the MOH. They had a blast doing it.

I say definatly go for it and have fun
