VENT - last name

VENT - last name

I took DH's last name and I was calling credit card, utilities, bank, etc to make my change. Can you believe every single person I spoke to (with the exception of time warner) said to be ' Oh dear, why did you do that?, you should have kept your maiden name?'

Now i'm feeling like if i did something wrong?
Please help me feel better.

Seriously... first of all, they should keep their opinions to themselves.

Secondly, I think its nice you took his last name. This way if you have kids you all have the same name. There is nothing wrong with being traditional.

I keep getting the same reaction and i usually tell them to mind their own f-ing business... except the other day my doctor said to me 'oh god thats bad' and I couldnt help cracking up..

oh please!! what do they know!! itook DH's last name and so far no issues! they just dont wanna do the extra work to change your name in the system!

The lady at the bank made me feel like I did the worst thing in the world. Like an idiot, I came out and asked if that was going to cause any problems with my account. She just kept saying that i should had kept my maiden name over, and over..
When I went to DMV the lady told me that i needed to remain independent and she doesn't understand why i was changing my name. Gas company told me flat out 'why are you changing your name? you don't like who you are?????????????????? UGH

WHAT?!?!??? OMG these people need their own lives. I get the exact OPPOSITE reaction when people ask me are you changing you name, and I say 'no' they say, OMG, why not???? Answer.... 'it's my personal choice and really none of your business' Short and sweet and shuts them up. Practice that on some of the busy bodies you are dealing with!

I SO understand...each time I called they laughed and then said 'is this some sort of a prank?' I wanted to poke their eyes out through the phone...not to mention...in my career I constantly have to hear 'Mrs. Drinkwater' i want to cry sometimes lol

OMG me too! The Con Ed lady was sooo sweet, the bank lady said congrats and helped me order cute romantic checks and she even lives in our town and was telling me other branches that have atms and are closer to our place, and the credit card and student loan guys I spoke with said Congrats.

WHO are these MISERABLE (probably divorced and bitter) people!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Why would they say that?! That's ridiculous. Besides it being rude, shouldn't they have just said congrats or something? That's what everyone said when I did my calling around.

I had the same reaction, everyone was so nice to me and said congratulation!! Even the lady at the dmv said to me (when I said OH i have to take a new picture) she said of course honey your a new person! and I thought that was so sweet
