For the past year I have noticed a trend of people who sign up here NEVER looking at the reviews that all of the past brides had posted. I mean I spent two days writing a review to help people and put key words in the review so that when you do a search it gets picked up.
That is what I did when planning - searched and searched again before posting a question. Over and over again I see the same questions: whats your experience with (insert vendor)?, did you have (insert) as your photographer?, did anyone use (insert color) as their main color for their wedding? WOW why don't you look at the review board and maybe you will get the answer there first and then you can say Oh i saw the review on this photog but it was over two years ago has anyone used them recently or has anyone used this color in their wedding but in a different season.
I also noticed that not many people are commenting on the review board, when I joined EVERYONE did. Just odd to me.

It's sheer laziness and/or newbies just not understanding how this works. I never posted a review, so I cannot comment on that.
My vent - spelling. Why oh why can't the newbies spell correctly. I get so turned off by reading posts that are so filled with typos that I usually click out. To me it indicates that they are not detail oriented enough or just don't care.

I hear ya! I was a total profile stalker and looked thru tons of pics and tons of reviews - AND I only had 6 mos to plan my wedding!
Anyway - my pet peeve is on NW board - if I see one more post about where/when to get dress preserved I am going to lose it! Lol!!!

I completely understand your vent, but I am thinking they may not understand how to use the all the forums and the search engine completely. I know I didn't when I first started posting sometimes I am still surprised by the things you can search here!

Sometimes people post about things like that b/c they don't know how else to get involved in the chat. I remember one of my first posts was a question about favors, but I really didn't have a question... I just didn't know how else to get people to start talking to me.

i know i was totally confused in the beginning when i first started posting. i didn't know how all the search stuff worked and what not. but after awhile you figure it out, so maybe that why you're noticing this. there was a ton of duplicate posting happening on the 08 board, but there are new people on the boards daily so it shouldn't make that much of a difference. hey maybe someone will get a great new idea on one of these recurring posts!

I hardly say much, but I really like LIW. I must admit I looked through everyone's reviews for months before actually posting. I think this site can intimidating, because it feels like a lot of people know each other really well. I got married in 09 but I am hardly on the 09 boards because it is like everyone knows everyone by their first name and I just haven't posted enough yet to get to know everyone that well.
I may take some heat for this but I feel like people get upset about one person crashing anothers board and I don't really see what the problem is. I'd rather just answer a question or refer someone to where the answer can be found than get upset over a post on one board or another.
I think everyone has something to offer, whether its advice, support or a good recommendation. Maybe I am just unaware of all the in and outs and the LIW etiquette to understand what the fuss is over.

I have been on for 2.5 years and that is what I did when planning. I post a question, not search it b/c really why not? I understand what you are saying but if you don't want to answer or look at the question you don't have to. JMO.

To me if i wanted to know about a specific person/vendor i would research it before asking a question. I guess i find it easier to research reviews instead of popping a question then waiting for responses. But I see most people view it differently which is cool so vent over IoI

I would search too,,, after someone pointed out the search feature to me!! LMAO!!! But I think that a lot of people find it easier just to ask brides.

i found this site while googling jericho terrace - i think that taryn's review came up actually - its funny b/c the first two things i remember about LIW was taryn's review and camacho's review - i think i read EVERY review and i read everything anyone ever posted about JT
after all that research i made a name i'm pretty sure my first post was still about JT
i do see your point though - i am making a monster of a review - its almost done, i just have to upload some pics and insert all the links - its REALLY long and VERY detailed.....i wrote it b/c i LOVED reading lengthy reviews that had tons and tons of photos......but i feel like nobody gives a crap anymore either......when i was planning that review board was my favorite and every week i would check to see if there were new reviews.....for awhile i felt like the reviews weren't that great - i think the 07 girls did a good job and then when 08 started the reviews suffered a bit - like they were less detailed and not as lengthy - not a lot of photos - so even i stopped looking for awhile and like i said that was my favorite board.....maybe that is why there is not so much traffic over there? i have to check out the reviews that are up now - i haven't really been over there recently but i remember thinking during 08 that the reviews were ehhhhh.....i thought more people would have posted....
and the other girls are right - a lot of the newer girls may not realize what that board is - or how to search.....
