I miss home! I'm not use to the new house and am having a bit of trouble adjusting.
I feel like I want to experience the wedding all over again - especially when I look at pictures- I want to wear my dress out again - I loved my dress so much.
And, I can't even wear my engagement ring / wedding band - I think when they put me up on the chair during the jewish songs I was holding on for dear life (They say the chair weighed more than me so they were Up&down w/me very fast) - my e-ring is totally bent out of shape and my band a little bit too - This is upsetting me.
I always daze off thinking about different things that went on during the day - I can't wait to see the video.
Ok, I digress.....but overall, did everyone have post-wedding mixed emotions?

Re: Very Emotional Time
We just returned yesterday from our HM and I think I'm going through withdrawl from that...the thought of going back to work tomorrow has me in such a funk! I can honestly say I'm so glad the wedding is over. DH & I talked about it today and all the wedding 'stuff' laying around the apt is almost too much to bear. Our wedding was beautiful, amazing and everything we wanted, but there was a point where it occupied so much of our (my) time that I wanted it to end to get my life back. I can't imagine what you're going through with a new house, etc. Not being able to see your family like you were used to. I've been on my own for years, but will say that when I first moved away from home I too missed my family and found myself traveling upstate just about every weekend to see them. It'll soon pass...time seems to be the answer for everything.

Re: Very Emotional Time
I thought there was something wrong with me for feeling this way. I think about the day all the time, I cried when my parents told me they preserved the dress, because that meant I couldnt just put it on when I wanted too. I have watched my unedited video 3 or 4 times by myself. And i cant stop looking at the proofs. I think i am going through post wedding depression I even told DH and his friends i wanted to do it again, our friend says he is going to do it on his 10year anniversary. My mom told me to through a party with my friedns and chip in to get a DJ, etc and all wear our wedding dresses.

Re: Very Emotional Time
The entire time that I was engaged I complained that DH FORCED me to have the wedding, and how much I resented him for it (I really had not interest in the planning, the frills, etc) I absolutely wanted to elope...BUT now that it is over, I really miss it, and wish I could do it again...and think about the things that I would do differently...So even someone who didn't want a wedding totally feels that way!!!! (I guess that means it's normal)

Re: Very Emotional Time
I had so much fun planning our wedding, that when it was over, and I returned to work after 1 week off, that I totally missed the planning, preparation and then the big day It went by so quickly that I was somewhat depressed for a couple weeks and I couldn't even post here.
DH and I just returned from our delayed honeymoon and I feel great - although I still have to adjust to the time difference. I'm very glad we delayed our trip because it was something great to look forward to.

Re: Very Emotional Time
I had a similar feeling the first week back. I didn't exactly miss the wedding planning but I had so much extra time on my hands and I definitely felt low after the big high. I also missed having my family and friends around. I had a good weep one day and my DH fussed over me for a while and totally made me feel better. I just threw myself into work last week and have started planning our next trip - a long weekend to Dublin for the Rugby

Re: Very Emotional Time
After we came back from the HM, we had summer time and my bday soo I was fine but then it all sunk in and I totally missed wedding planning and being a bride to be, it has been hard with a verystressful semester (last year wedding planning was my stress release). I am trying to rejoice in my moments of happiness which come frequently when I realize I am married to the love of my life and couldn't be happier. It's hard when something you have been planning for for awhile is over. Still have the albums and video to look forward to!!

Re: Very Emotional Time
I think it is very common to feel blue right after the wedding.
Wedding planning is pretty all consuming. It takes up time, make you the center of attention. Once it is over it can be a huge adjustment.
Give your self some time to get used to be a 'regular' person again.
Also consider taking on a new project -- maybe take a class that you've always wanted, learn to Scuba dive, volunteer -- it will help fill the time.

Re: Very Emotional Time
Yup, we've all been there. It's such an exciting time in your life and then in a blink of an eye it's over ! It's nice not to have the stress, but I miss all the fun too and I feel like I didn't get to enjoy the day because we were taking pictures. 14 months of planning over in a few hours and you never get to do it again.
There is the best part though, now you can start your life with your hubby and have a lifetime of wonderful memories with him.
Chin up, the let down will pass quickly.
Welcome to the board, Kelly

Re: Very Emotional Time
Very mixed! In the last couple weeks of the wedding planning, I couldn't wait for it all to be over with, but when it finally was over, I felt depressed. It reminded me of the day after Christmas as a kid, but much worse.
But over time, we started doing things for our house, and I changed my job, so that took my focus off of missing the wedding. I still think nostaligically about it, but I'm living in today again, and not missing my day as a bride all of the time.
You'll get over it. My suggestion--keep yourself as busy as possible. You won't miss it quite as much.

Re: Very Emotional Time
I am so happy to see this post! I thought something was wrong with me. I still think about my wedding and its been a month. I am adjusting because life is just so busy, and we are still trying to get settled. But, it was such a wonderful day, I can't believe it went so fast and I want to do it again. Thanks for sharing ladies!

Re: Very Emotional Time
I did too for about 8 months. I would replay and replay... and then I would be upset b/c I wanted to relive it! I would zone out and think about it almost every day! It was bad. I also would watch the video all the time by myself and dh would say to me 'not again'. I was really depressed.
I haven't been thinking about it as much and it doesn't effect me the way it used to (consume my thoughts). Now, I think about it every month or so. I never thought there would be a day that went by when I wouldn't think about it! I am glad I can think straight again! It was even interfering w/ work I think. No one noticed, by I would zone out and day dream for an hour.. hehe. You'll stop thinking about it eventually. It feels like forever that you will miss it, but it isn't long term.. thank God!

Re: Very Emotional Time
I felt the same way and still do. Sweetd you remind me of what I still do. There are some days especially during my commute to work that I just zone off and think about it. I got so caught up in the few things that didn't go they way I wanted, that I started to forget that we had a really great wedding and the mnor things no one noticed. It is a little over 3 months now and I am much better than I was. It's hard to get over something that occupied more than a year of your life. Hang in there it will get better. This is coming from someone who was really depressed and missed home a lot as well.

I was like that for 8 months. I felt like something was wrong w/ me! Like I should not still be feeling that way after all those months. I had no complaints either. I just missed it so much, I loved thinking about it. That was my way kind of to relive it, I guess. I am so happy I am not like that any more. I was really depressed and zoned out.
