I just need to get this off my chest. My BFF just called me that she is 'jobless' again. I had posted a few weeks ago asking if any Social Workers out there had job openings b/c her job suspended her. Today was the day she went back, and they had 3 more 'write-ups' waiting for her regarding BS things... families that couldn't stand her and things like that. SUPPOSEDLY her supervisor met with these families while she was on suspension. It's all a bunch of BS. Ever since this supervisor started there, she's wanted her gone, and now she finally has her way.
I just feel SO bad for my BFF. It seems she will always have issues with employment.... she is not a quiet, slip things under the rug type of person and she never will be. She tells it like it is. I find it VERY hard to believe that there's no one else like her out there - and I am SURE those people have no problems keeping jobs! A job is not a personality debate - she should not have to change who she is in order to stay employed! I just feel so bad for her... her life is just one thing after another and there's nothing I can do to help her
Thanks for letting me vent!!!

So sorry that your friend is going through this. Has she looked into hospitals? They are always looking for social workers. City Agencies as well.

Yes, we did go back and forth! Well, they wanted to fire her but she asked if she could resign and they let her do that. She has 2 great references from there, though, so that's an added bonus.

I think she submitted a resume to every hospital on LI, and even a couple in Queens! We will see what happens!

aww I feel bad for your bff , it is a tough market right now.
I am a social worker and I also have learned the hard way about the right or wrong time to hold back . Sometimes we do have to change the way we are with our supervisors/ clients in order to stay employed . There are times I want to say to my clients W T F are you doing a**hole or I want to tell a supervisor to bite me , but instead I find I bite my tongue on things because some people cannot handle the brutally honest trust and it boarders on inappropriate or insubordinate ( which is something I have been told in the past because I would question everything ) .
She should look on the OASAS website , there are a million jobs in the substance abuse area, or mental health ect

Thank you so much! I sent her a text message with that info! I do know what you mean about having to bite your tongue on some things. She was considered to be 'insubordinate' a lot - it's a shame.

Yup, you did, and I told her
She actually went on an interview during her suspension and she loves so many aspects of the job, but hates others. She is pretty sure she got the job though, and if it gets offered to her now, of course she'll take it b/c she doesn't really have a choice. She'd basically be doing in-takes all day, which she loves. The bad thing is the hours are from 2-10 M-F so she'd essentially lose her life. She doesn't really have an option right now, though.

Yes , especially since I bet she is great at what she does ( as all social workers are )
