Visited Ground Zero This Weekend

I just wanted to share my experience,my husband and I and another couple went to little Italy for dinner on Saturday (we had a great time) after desert at Ferraro's we decided to walk down to ground zero. I work in the city now and I use to work right across the street when we were bombed the first time, so I know first hand what chaos it caused back then, but I have to tell you when you see it up close and KNOW exacty where everything stood before....it takes your breath away and the feeling in your heart is so heavy knowing you are literally at a grave site (I loss a person in that building that I knew) When you see it for yourself you'll know why the recovery of loved ones is taking so long, the hole in the ground is at least 10 stories down. We all hundled and said a prayer. Saturday was the most beautiful night until we got down to ground zero, it poured on us, we were drenched..my husband said 'God was Crying' for these people. I am glad we went and was able to be a part of history. We will never forget!! God Bless America!!!

Never forget!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your story.
It is hard to believe that 7 months have passed since that date.
I worked in the East village and I guess it is one of those moments where u will remember exactly where u were when it happened. WE were about 1/2 mile away..and I will neve forget seeing the things/people I did.

My hubby and I are amateur radio operators licensed by the FCC and we, along with countless others, volunteered our time to provide emergency communications.
Rob & I reported in on Friday night and were assigned to the hot zone inside ground zero.
It was surreal.
We were on duty for 48 hours straight...and I will never forget those hours...and the days that followed.

G-d bless and never forget!

Ground Zero

Nubride, I sincerely thank you for sharing your story.

Phyl, bless you for working those long, hard hours. 'Thanks' just isn`t enough :-)

I will have a chance to visit Ground Zero next month. At first, I was really intimidated about going. But the more I think about it, the more I feel the need to have that moment to greive. Your stories and those of others have helped make that decision to go...so thank you.

I also hope that all of you look at the following website, and contribute your stories:

Ground Zero

We visited Ground Zero in December when the viewing platform was fist set up. I must say it was a very emotional experience for me. I cried my eyes out for all the friends we lost, the children who lost parents and for whomever lost someone they loved. I think what really got to me was just how close my husband came to dying that day and how I could not bear to even imagine living my life without him.

For all that go to visit, it is a somber, moving experience. I may be in the minority but I resent all the souvenir hawking that goes down there and all the giggling toursits snapping pictures with big smiles on their faces.

Just my 2 cents

This is a website that never fails to move me to tears.
May we never again live in fear and anguish as we did on that day.
