W * T * F ?

W * T * F ?

My *THIRTEEN* year old niece called my mom today to chit chat... she informed my mom casually that one of her friends 'is bi' and then later made a reference to '69'

AT THIRTEEN???? I think I still had My Little Ponies!

She's like a little girl! Why grow up so fast??? I made a myspace account to keep an eye on her!

You can have the account removed on myspace. You have to be 14 yrs old. report her if you are concerned. my 10 yr old was on there, at my ex's house. I had it court ordered for the account to be removed.
I have a 13 yr old too. I would be floored if he talked like that.

YIKES!!!
That is stuff I had no idea about till I was in high school (like senior year). LOL I might have been sheltered, but that is surprising.

I teach middle and high school kids and have to say that this doesn't surprise me at all. You have to hear what these kids talk about and what they know already. I would never imagine 8th graders hanging out on the weekend and drinking/smoking, but they do! I guess I'm numbed by the fact that I work with them and am used to the fact that they grow up a lot faster these days. Even the girls with their makeup/outfits....in middle school some of them look like seniors already! It's scary.

Unfortunately this generation just grows up too freaking fast. DH is a middle school teacher and the kinda of things that these little girls say to him and the students in the class is just . It really s u c k s bc I feel that these kids arent enjoying their childhood because they want to be 'grown'. I would also speak to her mom to see if she is aware of this.

Could she be reaching out?? Maybe she called your mom because she wants to talk about these things with someone? Or she wants to talk about SOMETHING and is just saying these things to get someone to ask, hey, what's going on? why are you talking about this?

Seems strange that she would drop the words 'bi' and '69' in one conversation -- is she normally the attention-getting type? Does she want to 'look cool' all the time? I know that when I was that age, I used to curse just to sound cool - I had no idea what the words meant though. Could it be something like this, or a combination of these two things???

I think she's just trying to be shocking...And I think she's pissed that her parents moved to Florida away from all of us...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it could be a cry for help...

I cannot believe kids these days... really... when I was 13 I was going to sweet 16's and bar/bat mitzvahs, drank shirley temples and thought I was so cool! lol

Not to worry you, but do you think that she may be bi or gay and wanted to see what people's reactions may be???

i think at that age teens are looking for new ways to be shocking...and theyre also trying out different lifestyles/trends.

it's not terrible that one of her friends is saying she's 'bi', the girl is probably curious about her sexuality.

it is sad that teenagers are always trying to grow up so fast....please try to hold out on the 69 as long as possible!

I've investigated her myspace, and i think its more like they just heard these words and are throwing them out there for shock value...

Oh, all right. I don't know why, I thought maybe she was living with the grandmother. Wouldn't be the first situation like that. I know it may not be that surprising if she talks this way with her friends, I'm just a little more taken back that she mentioned these things to your mother.

Well here is the context. She told my mom that my brother (her dad) only wants her to hang out with 'preppy people' but the one preppy girl that he wants her to hang out with is 'bi'... and then she wanted to know how old my mom was, and my mom said '64' and courtney said, 'oh grandma, are you sure you're not 69 hahaha' so possibly she doesn't even know what this means, but only knows its a bad thing to say?

Oh, she may not really get what she's saying, especially for her to say it to your mother. Someone should probably still have a conversation with her. The move was probably a big enough transition for her, and then having to find new friends. Then she may be feeling a little pressured to click with the 'preppy people'. She may actually be a little uncomfortable with it and is curious to see how someone else feels about her being friends with this girl, while at the same time maybe wanting to please your brother...did that make sense?
