Wanting a baby?

I have been thinking about having a baby for sometime now, even before we were married...we are only married a month, hwever we have been living together for 6 1/2 yrs and been preety much best friends and boyfriend and girlfrind for 13 yrs we are currently living in the house we intend to buy this september, my husband makes a pretty good living, hes 30 im 28, for me i dont see why we should really wait but he says that he wants to wait to be more financially sound..i would never want to do it unless we were both ready, however i have MAJOR baby fever.. i was wondering if anyone else out there feels the same. i also am out of work, which means i think about it ALL day..

I think it's really understandable that you want a baby now, because when you are ready, you are ready! But, I think you are right to wait until you are BOTH ready. In the meantime, do you have any friends or relatives that could 'lend' you a baby or toddler to spend time with? A trip to the park or movies might curb your baby fever a bit!

Re: Wanting a baby?

I feel the same way. All of our friends are already on their second baby. Im 28 too, and feel I dont want to be 35 when I have my first kid. But now Jay and I have some more things we would like to do together. We like to go away, and would like to spoil ourselves for now. We still have more stuff we would like to do with the house before we try, and get more $$. We would also like to buy an SUV, but way too much $$, and I would also like to get tenure at my school first. Believe me Im totally ready to have a child, but he is not, and you both have to be ready.

Re: Wanting a baby?

Wow, you are in the same boat as me!!!i dont want to be over 35 for my first child either.... in all our years together we have never really gone on a REAL vacation, i dont know why , but we never did.. then when we got married there was no honeymoon because he couldnt get the time off since he had JUST started there.. so i would like to go away at least once but i could go away pregnant .. and about the SUV.. we just leased an suv the nissan Xterra.. (my husband is a outdoor activity junkie) and it was VERY cheap compared to the rest.. and its a really great ride.. i think he pays only like 350-375 a month....

Pregnant girl responding here

HAVE A BABY !!!!!!!!!

We'll be married 2 years when baby arrives, we are sooo looking forward to it, sure our lives will change, and we are ready to take the changes head on, as challenging and new to us as they will be. I think DH would have waited longer, (im 27, hes 31) men never seem ready for anything do they ??? but now DH is more excited than ever. I think the same goes for proposing, etc etc, they need a kick in the behind. I say this is something you cant just take so lightly and brush off because you have this big TO DO List 'before' you have a child. May you all conceive right away, but i've done alot of reading on conception and frequent a few pregnancy websites and know that its not always that easy. There are many people out there who waited till the time was 'right' for them, they enjoyed their great careers, traveled, pampered themselves, etc etc, and when they started trying, found that God had a different plan, they waited 3 or more years on top of that. Dont take it for granted and think that when youre ready for a baby, you just say 'ok, i'm ready now, are you ?' If anything, consider 'starting to try' as a head start, counting that you will conceive within 6 mnths to one year, consider it your planning ahead. (I was told by my Dr. that it could take 8m to 1 yr, but fortunately it only took a couple of 'tries')

I didnt mean to judge anyone or put a damper on anyones plans, but i've seen so many people's eyes LIGHT UP at the mention of being first time parents, and I think all of us ladies (and DH's) should have that opportunity now that we are young, full of life, and 'ready' to bear children.

All the best of luck to you all with your baby dreams :)

Re: Wanting a baby?- Anna I agree!

I am 34 and have been trying for at least 10 months, Hubby and I will be married a year in August. You are right, it just doesn't work like the way people think it works....'ok let's have a baby, GOD has his own plans and never in my dreams would I imagine it being so much trouble to have a baby. Please ladies, consider what Anna said she has a point....everyone wants to do so many thing before having a baby, but remember it is the 'gift of life' and we don't aways get what we plan. Good Luck to everyone trying!

Too Funny

Tonight at dinner I started the baby conversation again-- we both want to wait a few years but Jeremy described it best tonight--that most of the time I am riding the fence--I waver back and forth from 5 years to now-- so tonight he said I must have fallen off the fence into the baby pasture--while I am usually in the baby meadow-- I almost died(ok so you had to be there) but I do go back and forth-- I will be 28 next month and he will be 30 in jan-- I know I want to have our first right around 30--but that still doesnt stop me from wanting a baby now-- We do the the babysitting thing pretty often and that usually cools me off for a while( we have 8 nieces and a newborn nephew--finally!!!) but deep down inside I still cant wait for the day that we start our family

Re: Too Funny

Five years ?? Ladies, thats a long time to wait. Your fertility rate starts decreasing at 27, (thats a fact I read about) and at 33, you'll be starting to 'try' for your first. If you want more than one, you'll be in the 'new parents' phase of your lives maybe till your early 40's ! (hee, hee I just want to push more mommies to be into the world !!)
Laura that was soo funny about the baby pasture, good sense of humor your DH as, .

Your bodies are at their best right now, get moving.
Here's the article Im referring to when about fertility facts. This is just an article to give us more info about things like this, I didnt know half of these facts myself ! There are a few good stories and articles in this issue of TIME.

http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101020415/story.html

HAPPY READING, and get those boys swimming !
My baby is waiting for his/her pre-school classmates to come into the world !

hee, hee.

anna is totally right

not here to judge anyone- just my 2 cents...
If you wait until the right time, it will never come, life is always changing ladies, so we have to take it as it comes.
You may be lucky and get PG on the 1st or 2nd try (like me! thank Goodness!) or it may take months or years.
If you can do this b4 35 it is better- from all I have read and what the drs say. You wont have to mess with some of the prenatal testing- which can drive you insane!
And as far as the guys go, when have they ever been ready to do the big things in life? (how LONG did you have to wait for him to propose? or get back to you on KEY issues with the wedding.reception?) hehe

Re: Anna- Good sound advice-Kinda Long

I've shared this before and I can't tell everyone how scary it is to try and try and nothing happens! I am 34 yrs old and we are trying for baby number one and it's been over 10 months. It does NOT happen like people plan..trust me, I wish it was that easy. I spent the last 15 yrs trying NOT to get pregnant that there is so much guilt now for using the pill all these years and I wonder if I caused any damage? To the younger girls..if you found Mr.Right which of course you have, please don't wait until your older. When you are older everything changes..from you menstral cycle to your patience level. Unfortunately I had to wait to meet my Mr.Right at 32yrs old, so we are so wanting to get started with our family. Lot's of luck to all!!!

Nubride - Don't mean to be rude

Have you or your husband talked about going to a Reproductive Endocrinologist? I am 38 and hubby is 35. We have also been trying for a while and like clockwork AF comes every month. We ASSUMED because I have a child form a previous marriage that it was all an issue of timimg. Well, sorry to say, we were wrong We might need a little help from modern science to help us have a child

Do not feel guilty about being on birth control for those years. If you need any more info or just want to chat e;mail me at [email protected]
