so after a LONG talk with the hubby we decided to get a puppy. We ended up with a Malkie (Maltese and Silky terrier mix) shes a very good girl. Her name is Daisy. She loves to play with Isis's tail and Isis isnt as bad as I thought she would be.. I have to admit though I misss my Leo and Romeo TERRIBLY
so doggie mommies any advice? Ive had cats since I was five but NEVER a dog!
Congrats!! I have a Maltese...LOVE them! Such adorable dogs!!! I am also looking at getting a Malkie!! They are sooo cute!!

Athena.. I am so happy for you!!!! I would advise you to crate the dog at night when you go to bed so that she gets used to being in the crate and don't let the crying deter you, she has to get used to it.. You have to let her out a few times a day but mostly, she needs to be crated.. You don't want her to pick up any bad habits!!! Good Luck with Daisy!!!!

Congrats and I agree with pp def crate train. It is the only way to go. It is not mean they see it as their den. My doggie actually cried herself to sleep for a week after I had to take away her crate due to lack of room.

awww congrats!!! I have 2 dogs and am not very good at the training & discipline stuff...that's DH's specialty...so i don't have much advice to give except enjoy her!!!!

DEFINITELY CRATE TRAIN!
That was our BIGGEST mistake when we got our puppy Akita! He would bang and cry and he made us get no sleep!
Also - buy wee wee pads & feed him dry food [and wet if u want] but the dry food #1 ingrediant should be chicken, beef or lab. NO ground yellow corn!
Generally, we mix up the foods for the dog, our dogs are very picky. They enjoy the IAMS PUPPY CHIOT dry food and they eat PURINA PRO PLAN and PURINA One and Eueknuba wet can food!
