And are getting back enough to cover remodeling our living and dining rooms and a short vacation in June!

Awesome. We finally got our stuff to our accountant/attorney and will know in a week or so how we make out in our first year filing as a married couple. It's nice to know some married couples get money back!
Last year at this time, our tax returns paid for our entire wedding reception (we had the mortgage on the house to deduct).
This year, we'll probably get a return more like a nickel bottle return

WE did our taxes too, we dont have the numbers yet, but our accountant said it looks pretty good ! I hope it covers the remodeling we plan to do too ! and a vacation too ! and a pedicure, and a dinner or two, and new clothes, ok im getting greedy !
Save some for the extra bedroom you'll be setting up soon !

Congrats, enjoy it! Ask me again why I decided to get married on Dec 29???? Couldn't wait til the new year and get away with one more year as single in the eyes of the IRS!! Our tax refund was a joke...nothing like two decent incomes, no house payment and no kids to screw you at tax time!

JennRenee -- We got good news from the tax man as well. I was shocked as I expected a bad marriage penalty. Turns out that condo ownership is better then we expected for our taxes. Now our cruise this summer is paid for! :o)
Of course all this excitement merely means that we all gave a large interest free loan to the government for months... hehe...

We havnet done ours yet, we still have to meet with the accountant. I hope it looks good. Last year we had to pay...all because of hubby. Well his father. They have their own busines, so his dad didnt take out enough taxes, so we got screwed
This year his father said that he might have taken out too much , and if we get $$$ back it is going to the business. I SAID NO WAY!!!!!!! Im NOT giving you OUR $$$$. That is his fault. What about me, and the $$$ I deserve

We just got ours done too, and are getting enough back to help pay for a trip for our anniversary this summer. We thought we'd have to pay!
Our accountant also told us to buy a house. We told him unless he plans to buy it for us, he's just going to have to wait!

we did our taxes about 3 weeks ago- took advantage that I was home and did them early. We are getting a refund...but not that large. Julianne didn't arrive until JAN 5th! so no deduction until next year!
