We're in the process of house hunting and we need very specific info on school districts. I grew up in Nassau so have a good feel for the outstanding/not-so-great districts, but we'd like to research specific data on each area.
I've only found info in mlslirealtor, but it's pretty general - any other sites that are helpful?
Thanks!

Re: Websites that list school district ratings?
Not sure but www.realtor.com used to have this kind of information.
I think Newsday also does scores for each district, broken down by elementary, middle, high school. . . . You might want to try searching their website for them.

Re: Websites that list school district ratings?
I took your advice and I was brousing through the Newsday real estate section. I was so amazed (or should i say alarmed, upset) at the prices that the houses on the same block as we are buying on went for in 2001 and even 2002. I realise that the market is inflated but had no idea just how much they have gone up.

alina - It's so incredibly frustrating DH and I just came back from looking at a house, that was actually in good shape, but just sooooo expensive!!! It just gets me so frustrated and angry that if we did buy the house, we'd be paying TOP dollar - I just can't help but feel like we're getting taken for a ride no matter where we look
Thanks everyone for your replies!

I know Teri ... we felt the same way and we are doing work to our house too! But because we are doing some work, we are still saving $ if we bought a house completely re-done!!! But I'm losing a lot of time and Rob is working really hard, so who knows!
It's so hard to predict this market ... everyone has their speculations, but it is really hard for a lot of us to start out these days. I have seen prices, for the most part, stabilize somewhat! I hope that you guys find what you are looking for in your price range!!! Good Luck!

Re: Websites that list school district ratings?
Unfortunately, my DH is the farthest from a handyman as you can imagine - he can't even hammer a nail into the wall! So, buying a fixer upper really isn't a good idea for us, since we have NO clue on ANY of that, plus I do wonder how much we'd be saving with all of that aggrevation from contractors and all.
The house we saw last night was in good condition. There's already an offer on the house, so they'd probably be less negiotable with us. We're just not ready to make an offer yet. We still have a lot of research to do, and we need to narrow down the areas.
We don't have to move immediately or anything so we have time on our side, but not if the prices continue to increase steadily!!
