Wedding Box: How to for Teri!

Wedding Box: How to for Teri!

Hi Teri (and Deb (jpsgirl) if you need it)...thought it was easier to post on here with a pic...

I used a finished paper mache box like below but was ivory in color (can't seem to find a pic exactly like it)...you can use any box. The oval one I bought was $12 at Michael's.

I'd recommend using these boxes since they are finished and the Mod Podge will adhere well. You can use a wood box, just make sure you sand down any rough spots if there are any. You can paint/stain the box but I painted mine and the paint came up from the glue. It wasn't a huge problem but I wouldn't recommend doing it.

I use Mod Podge (Gloss Lustre) and haven't ever tried another brand (has anyone else?).

I put glue on the back of the card and placed it on the box, then put a coat of Mod Podge over the top...continued this until I was done with all the cards/images. Once done, I put another layer of Mod Podge over the top. Be careful with unfinished cards, the color on the front may run with the glue.

That is it! Let me know if I can be of any more help!

Stacey - you're a doll! Thanks so much for posting this info. After more thought, I realized the wooden box I bought is too large, and I don't want to be bothered sanding and staining it!

I'm going to start this project next week, and I'll post pictures if it turns out ok!

Thanks again

Teri, your welcome. As long as the box is smooth in finish you won't have to sand it down. The only reason I say this is because with that picture frame I posted, I painted the wood silver and it wasn't sanded and it took quite a few coats to take. I like the smooth finish of those hat boxes though and on-line they seem to be cheaper than Michael's.

You helped me with the dried bouquet, don't forget...which reminds me I should post mine, it came out good, my flowers don't look as nice as yours but I like it displayed.

What did you guys do with your bouquets?

Teri had posted that she got a memory box at Micheal's and I followed her bandwagon and did the same. I think my box is smaller though since I paid $50 and then got 40% off. Teri's flowers look better though!

This is Teri's!

Cira - good idea! I wish I had an extra room just for all my craft projects!

Stacey - your bouquet looks great! It dried very well. The multi-color roses look beautiful dried as well - the light ones don't get too much darker. I think my box was $50 too - But with the coupon you save $20 - not bad!

So, Teri -- where are we meeting? We should like into a Michael's class!

I need to first find the time and then find the energy!!! I've been so busy lately ... but with a new house to decorate, I'm so behind you guys!!

These are some great ideas, I just wish I had the time and the creativity to do something like that

Mod Podge

All the bouquet entailed was just sticking it in the box Diane so nothing special about doing that!

Teri, your box looks more like a square and mine rectangular. I think mine was made to hold a football!!
