Wedding comparisons? VENT!

Did anyone have friends or just people who got married around the same time and just keep making comparisons...I am going through this right now and I am about to say some really mean things if I am around these two again ..AGGGHHH.

For ex..we all agreed that my wedding was beautiful and elegant. But little things like...I am glad I didnt do the regular bustle..I think it makes your butt look huge..uhhh hello..my dress was a size 6 and I liked my bustle very much thank you. SHe had a french bustle. SO I replied..well I think of bigger boned ladies a french bustle would be more flattering..(

Then there is the DJ fiasco..we were all looking at pics and recapping my day..she bought up..everything would had been perfect if the DJ hadnt shown up 2 hrs late. So I said..well the hall had so many courses people hardly noticed and besides didnt you stay until almost after midnight...

And the whopper from one ..we spent like 15K on our wedding I am so glad that we didn waste our money having a big weddings..And I replied..Well so did we, I cant beleive that we did it for 130 guests on that budget (she had 65 people)

I hate the comparisons.

At some point, you really need to just say something to her about how tacky her comments are. Perhaps the next time she mentions the weddings, you might say something like, 'Thank god no two weddings are alike. How boring would that be?'

Or, you could just straight out tell her that her comments are tacky and severely lacking in class. She doesn't sound like much of a friend anyway.

i can relate to you - my firned is now going to have 'the best wedding ever - not like all the rest she has gone to....' (the last one being mine!) - she already made alist of her halls knocking ours out b/c it was too much! (uh, not quite!!!)...people seem to lose their minds and manners sometimes.....but its a good laugh for dh and i now....

Its one of Dh's friends. So in a sense I should call this one an acquaintance. The other one who I spoke of on BHB..we have had it out. There is only so much I can take lol

YIKES! Maybe it's time for you and DH to re-evaluate the company which you keep! Sorry to hear that you're getting this from multiple idiots.

We are usually ones that keep to ourselves, we prefer our movie time than hanging out at parties, etc....

However since this wedding it seems that we are the center of the conversation for those who got married around the same time. I dont want to say jealousy b/c we spent the least out of them. But people still comment on our day and at the BBQ this may have been the problem. I was getting attention from her comapny...

Sometimes i think if you are too quiet you get in as much gossip as other people who are the opposite of you.


as for this girl..I have met her all of 7 times in 6 years. And the other was a childhood 'friend' who was showing her true colors..but I didnt want to beleive she was like that.

People are really ignorant sometimes. All brides spend a lot of time planning thier weddings and making sure all details are are perfect to thier expectaions. Why poeple comare and make comments it is beyond me.

My cousin did the same crap with me. She had a country wedding very different from the NY weddings we have. It was nice, quiet but different she made a joke and wore wicked witch stockings when they did the garter.. etc. MOre to her personality..okay so our wedding was more elegant a lot of dancing and we had Irish step dancers.

Well she made a rude comment the next moring after the wedding about how she didn't like the DJ blah blah her hubby had a headache all night really rude. So I told her that I was sorry my wedding didn't meet her expectations. Everyone makes selections based on thier own likes and dislikes thats what make each one unique.

I hate it when people feel the need to make comments and comparisons. So I stick to that line. Usually shuts them up.

Ugh i hate that.
not really a comparison, but my SIL pissed me off... she said to me the other day 'the dj sucked' about our DJ!!! I couldn't believe it! its fine if you didn't like him, but don't tell the bride who tried so hard to put everything together that something sucked.

But i'm just waiting for the wedding that shes going to be in soon. I'm pretty sure i'll hear LOTS of comparisons!!! she has no tact!

People are crazy. And, women get jealous.

For example, my BM from hell complained about EVERY SINGLE THING at my wedding! But, she made sure to take home the centerpiece, a bud bowl, her place card, her favor, and every other little thing that she could get her hands on. So, if she really hated everything so much, why did she feel the need to grab EVERYTHING that she could find?

I am sure that I will start to hear the comparisons soon because her brother is getting married in November. But, when all is said and done, she's a miserable, lonely 34 year old woman who does not have much of a life going for herself...
