we did not get the opportuntiy to look at raw footage and now there are some things we need to cut out of our video - has anyone had their video edited after getting the final product (ie you didn't get to edit your own video) and if so, did they give you a hard time?

Re: wedding video
Obviously I have no first hand experience but I have read on other boards about this. For the most part, videographers are very resistant to making such a change. Essentially they do the edit and if you dont like it, you have to pay extra. However, if there is something really inappropriate included in your video then maybe you can make a case.
What is the problem with your video?

Re: wedding video
Did you purchase the master copy as a part of your package? If so, you may be able to price compare for the new editing job. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of the original videographer (you don't want to edit from a VHS generally speaking), and I would guess its going to cost you quite a bit... *sighs*

Re: wedding video
We got our unedited copy and Nelson told us to tell him what parts of it we would prefer not to have in it. There were very few, but we left all creative aspects up to him. I hope there is something they can do for you. Is it something major???

I think it depends on what you are unhappy with. I would speak to the vendor. If they left something unappropriate on your video they should correct the mistake asap.

Re: wedding video
my brother made a mistake during his reading and DH said 'f***' under his breath - he had no idea how sensitive the mic was - this would really hurt my brothers feelings - also, I hate cartoons, and there are cartoons superimposed over our first dance, like cinderella, etc - I was never asked about this and I hate it! You'll remember how much I hated my photographer....the video guy actually has me on there all upset, saying to my bridesmaids, 'where the F*** is the photographer' and I look like the biggest biatch in the world, plus I don't want my family to see me cursing like that. Lastly, the DJ played 'the roof is on fire' which I hate but forgot to put on my do not play list. Of course the video guy has on there a whole bunch of drunk guys screaming 'we don't need no water let the mother f***er burn,' etc. I really can't believe they left all this on the video. I had one group song, where we were all in a circle singing sweet caroline, it was so nice, all family - and this they cut out. also, is your cocktail hour dubbed over with music? it seems everyone was saying something into the camera and you can't hear anything because it is dubbed over with music?

Re: wedding video
This seem stupid. See I think your videographer is an idiot. Sorry but in our raw footage you can hear hubby and his bestman talking and you can hear our photographer telling us what to do, but Nelson made it very clear that all unecessary voices will not be heard, if he can do it so can your guy. Why for the life of me would someone leave cuss words in a video and a drunk bunch of fools singing and cussing and carrying on, but then turn around and cut out a sweet moment. I think your videoguy did a rush job. THey would have to fix it. In our cocktail hour there is music and just scenery no one spoke but Nelson went table to table and people said things and we heard it. Your video has got to be fixed, I have not seen it and I think it is unacceptable. What does your contract state in regard to your choices?? I hope something gets done for you on this. I a so sorry about this. I can only imagine how upset you are.

Re: wedding video
since there's cursing heard on tape, that should definitely be edited out - without you even asking!!! He should do that without second thought, or you paying more money (I would think!)
I'm not able to see our raw footage, and I didn't really even think to ask - I figure he's the professional, he should know what to edit out, etc.
I'd give him a call and ask him if this things can be edited out - hopefully he'll work with you on this.

Jp: So sorry to hear abou this. It is absolute bull if you ask me. Any idiot should have enough common sense to eliminate inappropriate language!!
Make them redo it!! And if you cant, you can always redo it yourself. I dont know much about it but Claud and I were chatting about doing this one day...I think she and her husband know a lot about it.

Re: wedding video
The things you mention are unacceptable. I think you should go into them with a list of things you want to change. Speak to the owner of the company if you have to.
