I am in a major funk this morning and that is what led me to today's QOTD ...
What are some things you do to get yourself out of a funk? Especially when you have other responsibilities (work, school, etc.) ... what do you do while you are otherwise occupied?
Obviously since I'm asking I can't think of any at all. I guess usually I try to text/email with DH to make me feel better, but he's unavailable this morning.
Sorry for being a Debbie Downer ... just one of those days I guess.

Re: WEDNESDAY 1/13 NWQOTD
Sorry I can't really help, my funk is for the opposite reason, lack of responsibilities... not having work, school, or anything. This time last year I was student teaching and planning my wedding. Now I am doing NOTHING. The puppy helped pull me out of my permanent funk but I still get into moods that I can't get out of. I find going to my parents where there is stuff going on can do it or now I am trying to read a bunch of historical books.

When I'm in a funk I tend to drink, which isn't good, and probably a sign of a problem lol. I used to just get in my car and drive to Stony Brook Village and walk around the shops, but now I can't really do that without it being a major trip, so I guess just sleep/read/watch tv/isolate. Luckily I haven't been in a funk yet since I've been married, but I'm still not 100% sold on living in an area that doesn't have main street culture, so I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.

Retail therapy! Even if I don't actually PURCHASE anything, I will shop on line.
I'll also price out vacations online. For some reason it helps.

GOOD IDEAS. We are planning a vacation in June so I will look into that further. And I just went shopping on Sunday but ... a few more things can't hurt, right?

Re: WEDNESDAY 1/13 NWQOTD
I usually vent to my BFFL and cry a little, walk around in a funk for a while, then something soooo stupid can put me in a better mood and im over it! i dont stay mad about things for long!
my job stinks so i could be miserable all the time, but ahh whatever! lol
i got in a fight with one of the attorneys i work with and he mad me so angry i started crying...he basically was talking to me like i was a moron, and i called him an a-hole to his face and my bad mood was gone! lol
shopping helps too! but that usually puts me in a funck after i realize what i just spent!!!
DH usually makes me feel better even when he puts me in the funk! lol he does something silly and makes me laugh or just starts tickling me!

Well it really helps me if I can actually get myself to the gym or yoga - though it's usually the opposite of what I want to do which is sit on the couch and watch tv and eat. . .it also helps to put on music and dance like a fool around my living room or just to go out for a walk and talk to strangers, not in a creepy conversation way but just like. .oh wow there are so many wonderful people in the world all living different things. .

I try to go to the gym (get those endorphins pumping to pick up my mood) or veg out for a day or so. After that I usually feel better, or just want to go out and do something so bad that I feel better just from being out.
lately, especially with my lack of work... it's def hard to get myself outta funks...which happen fairly regularly these days... BUT i try to keep busy, like going to the gym (sometimes dragging myself there...), getting outside and going for walks (hikes)etc...and writing! i LOVE to write! and cook! ... i'm sorry you feel blah! i hope you perk up sooN! :o)

I paint or read. Basically it gets my mind off what i am doing, and i concentrate what is going around the characters in a book or What to do to make the paint perfect.
