so a coworker of mine broke up with his g/f a few weeks ago. I know him but we are by no means friends. Anyway he came over and told me about their break up and I told him I was sorry and offered some advice and I figured it would end there. I kid you not when I say he comes to me everyday with updates and then shows me e-mails she sends him and even shows me new women he's interested in on eharmony.com. Is this a little weird or is it just me being insensitive? Quite honestly it's very uncomfortable

Re: weirdness in the work place
Maybe he feels comfortable talking to you and going to you for advice
I'd probably get tired of hearing about it too though . Maybe next time he comes by, tell if you are really busy and you can talk later..

I tried that and then he came back and asked if I'm available for a session. Seriously, I'm not getting paid.

aw, he probably doesn't really have anybody else to talk to about these things. Lot's of times it helps to discuss all of this with another person, but it should be somebody close to you that you know & trust - not a random coworker.
I get it being uncomfortable for you though. It's hard to act like you care when, let's be honest, you don't. I hope he begins to back off a little. Poor guy.

Re: weirdness in the work place
awww I think its bc guys can't always talk to other guys about this. Some don't open up as much or their guy friends don't understand. I think the fact that he had a female offer advice and somebody he can just talk to about everything he is going through with this, he jumped on the opportunity. You're probably one of the few ppl he can talk to right now, maybe he doesnt have many other female friends.
I can see how it's annoying. I had ppl like this who had to update us with every little thing that happened in their lives. They would sit there telling us stories about all these ppl we don't know and go on and on.

Maybe he just doesn't know what to do know and feels comfortable coming to you...although it may be awkward because you work together in his mind he probably is grasping maybe it makes him feel better to share it...not sure! sorry!!

see that's the weird part. He does talk to his girlfriends about it because he tells me what they say to him. He even tells me what his therapist says to him. If he's going to a therapist why do I have to hear it too?

Maybe he likes or has a little crush on you?

Re: weirdness in the work place
stuff like that can be really annoying when u don't care lol - but he probably just has no-one else to talk to and feels like ur a woman who does! dh always tells me that when he met me he used to always call his girl-friends to talk or ask advice rather than the guys and lose his cool factor or get crappy advise lol. so sorry ur dealing with the annoyance! especially when u're trying to get work done! hey - atleast he's not calling u
