Well, I DID IT!!

I am no longer Jaime C, I am now, officially Jaime M. I went to social security and changed my name today!!! Next is DMV, but I think I am going to do them next week because I am going to Florida Friday and I need my old license. Which leads me to this question, when you change your license at DMV, do they let you keep the old one with your old name?? If so, I'll go there tomorrow!! Thanks!!

PS- Was anyone else a bit emotional when they changed their name. I had tears in my eyes at social security when I handed them my old card. I kinda had this feeling like I was handing over my childhood and the last 26 years of my life with my old name and that card!! I know, I am ridiculous!!

I kept my old license. They never even asked to see it. And no hole punched!

They do let you keep the license, they just punch a hole in it...I don't know why.

I believe that is done to show that the license is no longer valid. I just went to DMV today and my license was punched (and this was not the first time I've seen this).

You can go to DMV and change your license before your trip to Florida. You will get a temporary license and you will keep your old license for photo ID.

social security is the only thing i haven't gotten around to yet. i guess i better get on that.

i was glad to ditch my old name & having a new name makes me feel so married!
