I'm laughing at how personal I am being here but what the heck....we have officially gone off the pill. So the timing is all in God's hands now. We have definitely thought this out and believe we are ready (as ready as a couple who has never had children can be :o). We decided to do this after the first of the year and...here we are. I know alot of us are in the same place so I wanted to share. Just stopping the pill has had my feelings ranging from happy to scared to excited to nervous and the list goes on...wish us luck!

Went off the pill
Elizabeth;
I was on the pill for 8 years. I stopped it in October and was pregnant by January. After my sister stopped the pill it took her over a year to get pregnant. So be prepared... you could be preganant in 1 month!!! My baby is 10 weeks now so I will send my 'baby prayers' your way!!!

Some advice/tips for you as you prepare...
Like Beck said, it could happen very quickly, or it may take quite awhile for you to get pregnant. There's a lot of factors that could come into play, so be sure to visit your OB/GYN and talk to him/her about your concerns and what to expect. Also, ask for a prescription of prenatal vitamins, and start taking them now (it's never too soon!) Eliminate caffiene from your diet (if possible)and eat lots of fruit and veggies. Cut fat and sweets to moderation. Drink plenty of water/juice/milk. Get plenty of rest and moderate excercise. It's better to get into shape prior to being pregnant.
Try your best not to over-think this (I know that's very hard, especially when you are excited). I am only saying this from experience with several friends and relatives who have had fertility difficulties and they become totally obsessed by the issue. Try to keep you schedule the same, do the things you've always done and just go about your regular life. It is in God's hands now, and what is meant to be, will be.
I wish you the very best of luck! I'm sending some baby dust your way!! :)

Thanks for the well wishes and advice
Yes, yes and yes to everything that was said. I know it can happen right away or in awhile. Whenever God thinks we are ready,we will be blessed. I have been doing alot of diet changes prior to this so I am already on track with the foods I am eating (except those cappuccinos I love for the AM or afternoon jolt..sigh) I have started with multivitamins with enough folic acid and have an appt with the OB/GYN. I already registered and picked out names (I am SO KIDDING about the registry/names!!!!)

Other good PG sites...
While we're on the topic of pregnancy web sites, here are some that I frequent:
www.storknet.com
www.babycenter.com
www.pregnancydaily.com (this one is good for a daily calendar)
www.makewayforbaby.com
www.preconception.com
www.breastfeed.com
There are so many others, but this is just a starting point.
Enjoy!

We got married in August and I was on and off the pill for years (12+)and we have been pill free or anything else for that matter since August and nothing...I'm in the same boat and can't wait for it to happen. Good luck to you and have fun with all the practice.

Part of me wants it right away, part of me is fine if it doesn`t happen right away and that`s why I`m turning it over to my Higher Power. I have been doing Weight Watchers and while I am not at a horrible weight, I wouldn`t mind losing another 15 lbs. You can`t do WW if you are pregnant. So if it doesn`t happen right away, that`s fine and if it does, I feel like I am on a healthy food plan already so I can worry about those 15 lbs later. I would hate to be trying for 2 years though but I`m not going to worry about something like that at this point. Good luck to everyone. We`ll all have to start a LI Mothers-to-be board if all the baby dust works it magic on us :o)

You can do WW if you are pregnant...
I don't know personally, but one of my friends told me that WW offers a pregnancy-specific plan. If you already belong, it can hurt to investigate and see if it's available to you.
My apologies if I'm spreading propaganda - my info is secondhand, but my source is pretty reliable (usually).
Good luck!

WW-I checked, they said they don`t anymore
I don`t think they want to get involved in someone trying to lose weight and get the proper nutrients to a fetus at the same time. Rightfully so in my opinion, they`re kind of out of their element in advising pregnant women. Better left to a doctor. Still, the healthier eating habits I have developed are the key thing should we become pregnant, not weight loss.

Off the Pill
I went off in November and we are trying our best. LOL I don't tell him my 'fertile ' days for fear that he will be expected to perform. We are leaving it in nature's and God's hands and hopefully it will happen soon. I am 38 and would really love to be a mom again
With everything that has happened this past year a pregnancy would be a blessing..
