What a guy!!!

I just wanted to post about how wonderful hubby was the other day.

I was on my way to a 1:00 appt. with the outplacement councelor and as I pulled off the highway the car started acting up. I was trying to make it to their parking lot but the darn thing died in the left turn lane just half a block away.

So - off to a phone I go - call to cancel/reschedule my appt., call hubby and the towing service. Got a new app't at 3:00 if I got things taken care of by then, but hubby was on the phone or on-line - all I got was the answering machine and same for the cell phone, although he'd mentioned he'd leave the cell on so I could reach him if necessary. Well, I called again after I reached the towing service and he was already in the car after getting the message on his way to the rescue (in a white Saturn, not a white horse!)

He arrived and kept me company waiting for the towing service and when 3:00 rolled around he left me his car and sent me off to my appointment while he waited for the tow truck, went with them to the dealership, arranged for a loaner car for the weekend, and took all the stress and pain out of the situation - giving up about 3 hours of his afternoon and work time (he works from a home office) just to make things easier for me and let me make my appointment at 3:00.

What a guy!!! That's why I don't let it bother me when I'm cleaning and he's just laying around the house. I hate dealing with car problems and would do just about anything to avoid dealing with them. So he makes up for the non-cleaning in other ways.

WOw! very nice. So how did your appt go?

( my hubby has been very supportive in what is
turning out to be one of the most stressful
times work wise..thank goodness for the guys!)

Phyl...

That`s one of the best parts of being married - having someone else to be the support at times.

The appointment was really helpful and that`s why I really wanted to keep it rather than postpone. My company is providing a great outplacement service and it`s really helping me focus on what type of job I want to search for. They are really emphasizing going after what you really want, not just accepting something you can do, so I`ve culled out a lot of my peripheral skills to focus on my core competencies and cleaned up my resume a lot. I`m just starting to work with some key recruiters in my industry, and answer some ads too, in addition to networking.

Speaking of which, if anyone has any leads... I`m looking for a Marketing position in the Consumer Products industry in Brand Managment or Product Development - particularly in the food industry or home fashion / personal goods industries. If you know of anything please let me know. I`m open to Long Island as a first choice, but would consider Westchester region or southern CT. Not interested in NJ and it would have to be a really good opportunity to get me to commute into Manhattan.
