what a relief - a dog trainer!!!

Some of you might remember Abbey. She’s my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel I got a few months back. Well she is just a darling little puppy, 5 months now and cute as can be….but to put it frankly, she has us trained like she is the leader of the pack!

It’s our fault. We didn’t crate her, she sleeps in bed, she eats table food, gets scrambled eggs mixed with her food for breakfast…and the list goes on and on. Really everything we have done has been wrong, but in one way or another in the service of trying to get her to stop peeing and pooping all over the place. She just isnt’ GETTING it. So we kept her in the bed with us because she won’t have an accident in there, but now when we put her down, she barks for hours…just crazy. She bites the leash on walks, and after 45 minutes of no action goes back in the house and runs to the spare bedroom when I am not looking and poops!!!

SO frustrating! So we finally broke down and called a dog trainer to come in. Just wanted to post that if anybody is having these kinds of problems…or other things like jumping, biting, etc. this is the way to go. She was SO amazing with him! She basically transformed in only a couple of hours, and she’s doing the same type of obedience with us alone which is great! I am so thrilled. I was really beginning to 'hate' her (you know what I mean of course) and now I am just so proud and excited that I know she’s going to be fine!!!

Of course this was totally necessary now that a baby is on the way, and I feel so much more secure. The trainer promises that this little puppy will be able to do all kinds of tricks if we want to train her that way, but that she’ll be perfectly obedient in all situations if we stick to our homework with her! Just thought I’d post the good news. Of course he’s really expensive, but at this point, the cost of all new rugs was getting up there anyway!!!!!

Re: what a relief - a dog trainer!!!

Thats great!!! Trainers are really the way to go. I'm glad your puppy is responding to it so well. Remember to do your homework with the puppy and to pratice every night. We trained our dog also and the results were terrific. We are actuallly bringing her to 'advanced' training in September.

Good luck!!!
