Hi ladies. For those Newlyweds out there (congrats by the way), I desperately need some help with photo and video.
I have started poking around and gathering some pricing info, however I am a little overwhelmed and don't know what the 'average' cost is.
FH & I are paying for a big chunk of the wedding, so cost is an issue to me. However, I do think these are 2 very important aspects of the wedding -we take photos and videos of everyday life now!!!
Anyway, if you could let me know who you used, if you were happy with the final results, and FM me with approx. what you paid...

We used Laurie Studio in St. James. I can't even begin to describe the amazing experience we had there. In fact, my sister just booked them for HER wedding in 2004. My pictures are a great mix of b&w and color, both artistic posed shots and candids. We also have beautiful engagement shots. My wedding pictures are on a ton of newlywed photo threads, if you care to do a search.

I used Fine Art for Video and Photos (Chuck!!) and was very happy with the results thus far (I rec'd proofs, thanks you, viewed proof of album and raw footage of video). I think I paid about $5000? for both (middle level packages for both photos and video).

We also paid 95% of our wedding costs so I understand that cost needs to be part of your consideration. I would caution to be very careful about 'cheap' photographers. As you read many reviews you will see many brides are unhappy in the end.
I used Mark Kauffman for photography and Wild Rose for Video. I am very, very happy with both. My photos are beautiful and I should have my video next week Both were worth every penny I paid.

We also used Mark Kauffmans studio (Lynn and Jodi were the photographers) and Wild Rose video. Nothing but raves about both of them. Paid about $5K for photos, $2K for video. Worth every penny.

we went with Park Ave Studios in Sayville. Their prices were fair and their work was just wonderful. After all is said and done, I think we will be shelling out $3k for photos.
Our videographer did a nice job, but I had to sue him and deal with a district atty to get a hold of him. It was a nightmare I'd like to forget about now. Let's just say I wouldn't recommend him!

I used Autumn Lin at photo zone- she is an amazing photographer and not yet well known. Her upper level packages are between $3k & $3500- this includes proofs, portraits, studio time, album, parents album, thank you cards, etc- She also has lower level packages- she is accomadating, friendly, and unintrusive- yet she gets the work done and has a great eye... so many people came up to me and said who was your photographer- she was so nice! A lot of weddings I go to the photographers are so obnoxious.
