mine is hanging in my moms closet. It was my grandmas dress and she kept it rolled up in a pillow case since the 1940s and it didn't discolor. I think thats where we are going to keep it. LOL.

Re: What did you do....
I wore it again for our day after shoot and now its back to being crumpled at the base of mycloset. I SHOULD have it cleaned but I never intend to wear it again and that $150 would be half of a flushmounted album for us sooooooo kinda hesitating.

Hanging on one of our bedroom closets door. Should probably do something with it. Maybe I'll take that pillow case suggestions!

Re: What did you do....
That pillow case idea is interesting, I wish I could do that but I am going to need about 15 pillowcases sewn together to cover my dress... LOL.
I am going to have it dry cleaned because there some spots on it and then we are going to do some day after shots around August and then I am going to preserve it.

LOL we dont know why she kept it in a pillow case, but it didn't discolor, or smell, or anything!!! The pillow case discolored a little, but the dress was in perfect condition except for a few small rips that happened while she was wearing it. I figure Ill do the same since it seemed to work. And Im afraid preserving it will have the opposite effect on it.

I agree with you. Preserving it might effect it. It is a beautiful gown. I loved it!! It is a classic and elegant piece.

Re: What did you do....
It sat at my mom's, on my old bed for a year. Then I finally brought it in to be preserved. Now it sits in my closet, just seeing the box makes me smile knowing what's inside.

Re: What did you do....
I voted for 'hanging in my closet' but truthfully, it's just hanging on the back of my bedroom door in it's bag

I can't believe you wore your grandma's dress- how beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy that it was perfectly 'preserved' in a pillow case!! But wow- that is incredible that you could wear her dress- makes me smile

Re: What did you do....
still at my parents house in my old closet -- it's wrapped in a sheet right now cause I read somewhere that was the best way to store it versus in the bag until it gets preserved. just don't feel like paying to get it cleaned yet

It's hanging up in my closet. If we have children, I'd like to use the fabric for a Christening outfit.
