Sorry, I totally missed your note about not giving it to charity. You can have it made into something else but that is going to cost a lot b/c you have to have it cleaned first and then pay someone to alter it. But if you are willing to spend the money, you could turn it into a cocktail dress, quilt, christining gown, table runner, etc..

I have heard of many people making a bassinet skirt for their baby from it.
Or you could give it to a dressmaker to have it made into a cristening or communion dress, if you're Catholic......

I think that I read that if you donate it you can write off the value on your taxes as a charitable donation...
