Re: What do you know know that you wish you knew then?
that it isn't easy but it is amazing. marriage is a lot of hard work and that is whta makes it worth it. if it wasn't easy, everyone would do it. as for the wedding, i'd be more specific for pictures and have even MORE time to take them. i have 3 families and dh has his, so we missed out on some pics that i regret.

I wish I knew who our 'close friends and family members' REALLY were...but, now I do.

So true! We did not live together before marriage, which I don't regret, but the first few months were very hard. We were learning our own boundaries of how much alone time we each need, who is going to do what errands around the condo...
In terms of the wedding, I wish I worried less about the little details--it's almost 5 months behind me, and I remember very little about the actual day! It really is just one day of my life--I wish more time was devoted to making sure that this is the right decision for everyone...When I read the questions on BHB now about people spending weeks finding the perfect invite, I feel like writing no one will notice, go have fun with your FH! That is wht wedding planning is so difficult for couples, because when you get so wrapped up in it it is easy to forget having fun. So many things I stressed about...I think it is so easy to get so caught up in it, especially spending so much time discussing it endlessly. All the meetings with vendors, the endless discussions about which photographer, which florist...If I had to do it again I just might have eloped.

I wish I knew that the wedding goes by so fast and to enjoy every minute of it, but it isn't the most important thing and how wonderful day to day marriage living is!

I wish I knew that the Red Sox's were going to use 'At Last' as their theme song when they won the World Series. I never would have used it as 'our song'. Now, every time my Bostonian DH hears it, he thinks about the Sox first!

on the wedding day....wish we would've thanked everyone for coming at the coctail hour instead of spending about an hour of our reception doing it!!!! BIG mistake!!

I would have went around and thank more people, we did it at the coctail hour, but we didn't get around to everyone. We did at the end of the night thank everyone on the dj's microphone for everything. But I feel like I should have done it more personally, instead of sitting down for a moment to relax at the table alone or w/ DH or dancing with my friends (after taking so many darn pictures and running around, I was so exhusted). I really feel badly about that.

Just the opposite -- I wish I had stood my ground and insisted that we have a receiving line before the CH. DH wanted to enjoy the CH and just thank people at the reception. Needless to say, we did not enjoy the CH (we never made it past the door) and spent the entire reception thanking people. We barely sat down and only danced the required dances.

I did miss my entire CH which I don't mind b/c I got a lot of hellos out of the way. But, come to think of it, I am glad I got to sit down and relax and dance as well and enjoy my wedding, but deep down I will always feel bad. I probabky, would have felt bad either way come to think of it.

I wouldn't want to know what I know now, back then, b/c life is full of surprises and sometimes I think its great not knowing what to expect. (if that makes any sense)...
