We all have them. The special stuff that we bring with us from our parent's home, to college, to apartments, to our own houses. I have a box of letters/cards/books that I call my Memento Box. It has letters from my best friend when we were in 7th grade+, I have my General Hospital Fanatic tee-shirt in it, my dance recital costume from when I was 5 years old, a popped balloon from my Sweet 16- things that I love to see every once in a while.
I still have my ballet shoes too, which occassionally I put on when no one is home.
But my most favorite thing in the whole world (not counting humans or my cat) is my Teddy Bear. I got him when I was 6 months old, my very first Christmas. His name is Teddy. He has almost no stuffing left, and one eye got eaten by a dog but my Mom performed surgery and sewed him up that day He lives on my bed. I wouldn't get rid of him for anything.

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
I have so many things, it's impossible to list them all. My hubby calls me a rat-packer and calls my collections knick-knacks.
When we moved into our house, he tried to get me to get rid of them. Now we have a whole bedroom dedicated to my knick knacks.
The things I've saved include:
my certificates and awards from my 8th grade graduation;
class schedules from HS;
my first drivers license (the yellow kind that was easily chalked);
photos - I got a camera when I was 10 and the pictures I've taken I saved them all;
little figurines I collected from the boxes of Lipton tea way back when.

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
Can I tell you I don't have this stuff? My parents moved to FL and I was unsure where I was going to live so most of it was sold in a garage sale, sad now that I think about that. But Gary still has his favorite stuffed animal, Morgan and his Woody the Wood Pecker stuffed animal, how cute is that for a man!!

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
Like Michelle I also have a box full of items from grade school through high school. That I think holds my myst precious memories because it has letters from my best friend who died from cancer when we were 24. I also have a lot of stuffed animals that I got from my parents, that I will never part with.

I have a box filled with some of my favorite childhood dolls. My favorites are my first cabage patch kid, Nadine and my Shirley Temple doll. I also love the blanket my mom knitted for me, my girl scout badges and sash, my grammar and high school yearbook and lots of pictures!!!!!

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
I have a pillow and a cloth doll that were given to me when I was an infant. Neither has much stuffing left, and both have been sewed/patched/repaired many times over the years. It's funny how much comfort I can find in cuddling up with them. I guess in a complicated world, it's these simple things that really touch us!
did you ever make those pre-dyed patterns from a fabric store...my mom sewed it for me and I stuffed it...he's flat and a bear...so I call him Flatbear...He's sitting in my closet...but I'll never get rid of him....

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
I only saved a few things. One of them was my teddy bears. I got them both when I was a teenager. They came to the hospital with me and everything. Now they are on top of our armoir in the bedroom with some other bears.

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
The only thing I really have from my childhood is a Steiff monkey who never got a name. He is brown mohair with blue glass eyes and his tail is missing. I remember swinging him around by the tail alot as a kid. In alot of childhood photos you can see the monkey in the shot too. He's been in the drawer for the longest time and he's even got a few holes but I'm going to put him on the shelf in my son's room right now.

Re: What is your favorite childhood item?
My dad threw or gave away my favorite Fisher Price doll house. (The one with the little people). Anyway I found the little dog...that's all I have left but I treasure it. It's like the size of my index finger lol!
