my friend got married a few months ago. she doesn't like her wedding band now (it is a little thinner than her engagement ring) she wants to tell her husband that she wants a new band but feels bad. i told her she shouldn't switch it, it's the ring he gave her on her wedding day! what is everyone opinion on this??

Re: What is your opinion on this......
i think it's up to the couple i got a wedding band that matches my engagement ring....and i'm perfectly happy with it - i helped pick them both out, so i better be!
if she is really unhappy - she should talk to her husband about it.

I also think it's up to the couple. Personally, I would never switch my wedding (e-ring maybe) because I feel emotionally connected to it and it was blessed. But you do have to wear it every day for the rest of your life (or marriage) so I guess it should be something she's comfortable with.

I agree with what you are saying. I wouldn't get a new one, but my dh did, b/c he didn't want his platinum ring to get scratched up at work. I understand why he got a new one and only wears the original on special occasions. The other is sentimental. I guess as long as she (and my dh for that matter) keep the original, then there is nothing wrong with it. She can wear two by the way. I do. I have my dh's grandmother's wedding band and my own. I wear one on each side of my engagement ring. It looks amazing and makes my ring really stand out. I know a lot of people that do that.

I would not get a new band because of the sentimantal value. Maybe she can add to it, For example I have a band that is a row of diamonds that match my e-ring setting. I plan on getting another band that will match it to wear on the other side of my e-riing

Re: What is your opinion on this......
DH gave me a diamond wedding band for our First XMAS gift.
With buying a condo and paying for the wedding, we only had a total of $200 to get wedding bands for BOTH of us. We got lucky and found a set of matching Movado bands on clearance for $99 each- solid 18K white and yellow gold.
But, DH always knew that I would have wanted something a little more 'substantial'. So, 7 months later, he gave me the new band

I think it depends on how he feels about it. I have 2 bands, one was my mom's, and one is a plain band that matches my DH's. Technically, he didn't 'give' me my mom's band, but he knows how much it means to me to wear it. Eventually, I might switch to the plain band for everyday, which he did give me on our wedding day, but I don't think he really cares which one I wear.

I think she should talk to her husband about it, if hes fine with her getting something different then she should, like someone said before you have to wear it every day for the rest of your lives, so she should be totally happy with it. If for whatever reason DH wanted to get a new band, I dont think it would bother me. Im not too sentimental in that way I guess.

I agree. I wouldn't never change my Wedding band or Engagement ring 'I feel emotionally connected to it and it was blessed'. I got 2; one that matches my DH's and a diamond one it matches my Engagement ring

Totally up to the couple. I don't think it's right or wrong or anywhere in between.
