What is your plan of attack for

laundry??

Do you both pitch in? Is it all you? Do you take care of yourselves?

I do both. He'll do it if he absolutely needs something washed and I have no intention of doing laundry that day.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

I do his and mine. Before I came along he used to pay his brother $40 to do...if I didn't do his laundry he'd use a service. I'd rather save the money and just do it. Besides, I don't mind doing laundry at all..and I love folding warm clothes out of the dryer!

Re: What is your plan of attack for

It's all me... like every other chore and errand necessary in our lives.

The most DH does in the way of laundry is put away his newly washed and impeccably folded clothes (that I have to still nag him to put away most of the time)

Can someone remind me why I got married?

Re: What is your plan of attack for

Do you guys have a set day(s) of the week?

I find myself doing it when things start to pile up and I feel like I'm always doing laundry!!!

He'll totally chip in and do a load here and there (I almost rather he didn't because he's tie-dyed and shrunken nice things of mine!!!)

I just need to figure out a better strategy so I don't feel like I'm doing it too often....help!!!

Re: What is your plan of attack for

We don't have our own machines so we have to go to the laundry mat. DH and I do it together, mostly because I cant carry all the laundry down our 2 flights of stairs. lol

I felt like that too. It seemed like I was doing laundry every other day. Now I make my laundry day on Thursday. This way, I'm finished for the weekend and my clothes for work the next week are ready too. I do a load of colors, whites, sheets and then towels. While one load is drying the other is washing. Then, you could fold and put away clothes while you have the others washing and drying--this works for me.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

We tag team it...

first, pile all dirty clothes in the middle of the room
next, separate lights, darks, whites
then, one load at a time, wash, dry, fold

sunday is usually our laundry day and we take a few hours and tackle it together. before you know it, all clean clothes for the week!

ETA: I reallyyyy lucked out in this department... DH has even done ALL of it by himself a few times! I should've known he was a keeper. The day we got engaged, he took off from work and did all of my laundry so I wouldn't have to do anything when I got home from work. Sneaky sneaky.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

I do both of ours, I don't mind. He helps me fold though, especially when I start getting tired. He cleans the apt whenever I'm out of town.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

DH does most of the laundry and takes the other clothes to the dry cleaners The only stuff he won't do are delicate clothes that he could (and would) ruin.

ooohhh REALLY like the Thursday idea! I really love having everything clean for the weekends to put outfits together! Gonna try the set laundry day strategy out this week...thursday it is! Thanks for sharing!

Re: What is your plan of attack for

I also do laundry usually on thursdays. I divide the clothes between whites/lights and darks and then towels and sheets... sometimes there are two loads of one category but I just start out by dividing to see how much there is and how I want to do it. Sometimes DH throws all his jeans in at once so I'll do just a load of those. If I do laundry once a week I'll have about 2 loads. If I wait until every other week I have 3-5 loads. I like to do it before the weekend.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

We pay for someone else to do it.

Knock on wood, been doing this for about a year and everything is always great.

It means that we don't have to sit in a laundromat for 3 hours every 2 weeks. Time is precious. And it literally costs only a few bucks more for it to be someone else's work.

Re: What is your plan of attack for

He does all the laundry, which includes both of us and three kids so it's a LOT!! He washes and folds everything then I put it away. Needless to say it takes us all weekend to finish the laundry, there is just so much of it.
