What length is your wedding DVD?

I have to choose how long to edit my DVD and we were thinking 1 hour, but is that enough? We want it to be watchable since we will have the raw footage to keep....when its on DVD they can edit it so you don't see the people walking the entire aisle etc....or should we do 90 minutes?

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

Not sure but my instinct would say to have a 30-45 minute version to show other people....I think an hour or more is a LOT for most people to sit through.

I dont have my video yet so I cant say but we choose 6-8 songs, so it cant be more than 45 mintues right?

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

my video guy said that in an hour he can get everything in....and it will be watchable...he said 30 is way too short...so I guess 45-an hour is good....we are doing some instrumental for parts...so it can always be a little longer or shorter when music doesn't have words....

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

I don't think so, Stef...choosing 6-8 songs is just for the video footage that isn't already set to any music.
So, the songs you chose will be used probably to dub over the getting ready footage at your house, the guests' arrival at church and the receiving line (if you had...I'm just using examples here). Also, if your videographer took footage of your photo session, some of the music you chose will be used for that.

But, once you get to the reception footage, the videographer will use the music that your band was playing, which means your video could be as long as your reception, theoretically. Does this make sense??

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

I think mine is about 60 mins, maybe a little longer. The best part is with the DVD you can skip to scenes that you like and view those again and again and again. We just watched ours again for the 20th time and I still do cry.

I went on and on and did not even add anything to help They do not show every single dance or every single thing that happened. I could not see it getting longer, it would start to get boring. We have the thru the years segment, the ceremony, a few highlights from the the cocktail hour, the intro of us into the reception, a couple of dances, the cake, any speeches, BM/MOH speeches, parents/child dances, bo-k toss/gater toss etc. Then the highlights, then the romance scene that's all. 1 hr with 5 songs

Shamma---
when they show all those reception dances, do you hear the audio from the night? or your own music....

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

I think that the DVD/videos are normally about 1 hour or so. But with a DVD you can skip stuff very easily.

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

In ours you hear the music that was actually played, which I really liked, with one company that I went to see they dubbed over your music and played your reception like a highlight, not nice at all, I want to hear the music. Make sure your videographer knows this.

Re: What length is your wedding DVD?

Mine is an hour and 20 minutes. We watched it yesterday because his mom thought there was something wrong with her copy (which there wasn't) and I cried again.
