If you have a traditional album w/ matting, what are the dimensions of the actual album itself & how big are the pictures?

I'm going to my photographer in a little while and have to decide on a size.. Are the actual pics normally smaller than 8x10 in a trad album?

I thought a traditional album was like 11 x whatever. I think some are the full pages aren't they?

we're getting the traditional library album and the full page photos are 8x10, not sure how big the actual ablum is itself.

I am getting an 8x10 album, which I thought was the size of the pictures.. but I think based on a phone conversation that I may be getting an 8x10 album and the pics are smaller after the matting.. thought that was small
