what was the best gift you received for your shower?

i would have to say the most touching was a picture of me and my dad when i was little in this beautiful frame . i received a lot of great things but there still in boxes lol.

I loved everything I got - but my favorite was a basket one of my BM's put together for me.

It was a silver ice bucket - filled with wine charms, various wine accessories, wine glasses and a ton of other things she picked out that related to wine or a dinner party (like chesse knives etc. It took a lot of thought and effort to go around and get the stuff it was great! She even incorporated a private joke we have into there.

I got a pink bucket from williams sonoma filled with all cooking items from there and a pink apron. I still have yet to open it because I don't want to touch it.

Most touching was a sign my aunt gave me that says happy 4th of july. It brought me back to my childhood and I just started bawling.

This is corney, but the best gift was seeing my two aunts I havent seen in years and years. All my 'stuff' in in the attic waiting for us to move to the new house! It will be like getting them all over again!

One of the best gifts was the Precious Moments mini-Nativity that DH's grandmother gave us. Unknowingly to her, I have always wanted that set, so when I opened it up, I was shocked. I was touched.

I pretty much got everything that was on the registry - no surprises - no lingerie so I was happy with what I got but nothing strikes me as being the 'best'.

What can I say my friends and family are boring. LOL j/k

My friend's mom gave me handmade needlepoint gifts -- all in my blue theme color:
a Christmas ornament with our initials and wedding date, a candle holder with our names on it, and a pretty silver photo album where she made a needlepoint insert as a cover.

LOL same here! i got no lingerie... so i had to go a few days before wedding to buy my own!
No 'BIG' gifts... like i was hoping maybe all my BM's chipped in and got our bedding set... nope. No china or silverware either...

The biggest surprise was DH got me our cake topper that i REALLY wanted! he went all over the place looking for it since its a limited edition. So sweet!

(ETA- of course i loved all my gifts, but i love handmade/personal gifts. we got some nice personalized wedding gifts though... just not for shower)

My favorite was that my mom gave me her pearls.

I also enjoyed the conair footspa. I work on my feet and it is awsome!!!!

I don't know what my favorite was. I really liked the blanket my MIL knitted for me, my MOH made a box of decorations for all holidays, my BM made me a money umbrella, my mom gave me my penoir set...and of course we loved our registry gifts!

my oldest friend in the world got married about 6 years ago and as a gift for her wedding, i bought her a wedding Barbie doll, because we played with our Barbies everyday of our childhood....so it seemed fitting.
For my shower, she gave me a wedding Barbie and a card that talked about how great of a friend I am and how pecial our friendship is to her...it was the only gift that made me cry...and I'm tearing up now, typing about it.
It was my favorite gift, I think...although I got a ton of great things...that one stands out.

If you asked Tom though, he'd say the naughty-themed wishing well gifts though....scratch and sniff things....whips, etc....

My favorite thing is something off my registry - my Food Saver! It's one of those vacuum sealing things. I use it all the time!!!

Someone gave me a Kenneth Cole bag. It sounds weird, but it's a really great bag and now that I'm living in London, it comes in handy when I will be traveling home. It's perfect size for about 3 or 4 days without having to lug my suitcase. It was totally unexpected.

I also got a great gift AFTER the wedding, which really wasn't a wedding gift, jsut a little something extra. WE got married at a winery, so my aunt asked the bartender while she was there if she could have the corks from the evening's wine bottles. She made them all into a wreath for us. It's really cool because all of the corks say Raphael on them--and of course it's a tribute to how much we actually drank that night There were 126 corks on it for a wedding with 145 people at it!!! Almost a bottle a head!!!

My favorite gift was a Scrap Book that one of my bridesmaids made for me.

It is of DH and my life together! Pictures of us as children and pics of us together, and pics of our families and friends! It was wonderful!

too many to choose from. I think gifts that were not on our registry. I know that those people put a lot of thought into it.

One of my favorite things I received was a beautiful picnic basket with glasses, plates, a cutting board, some cheeses, olives, candles and a card game kit. We brought it with us on our honeymoon. I thought it was so different. I love it!!

My other favorite gifts were things I didn't register for, those were things I was completely suprised to get. I got all these neat serving things, a beautiful lenox platter, a smoothie maker. I just wish I could use it all already. Unfortunately we have no room in our apartment for all our new stuff. It is going to be like christmas when we get a house and I can finally open all my new stuff. I can't wait to use my pasta maker and make my own pasta.

Oh and I loved all the little nic nacs that were in the wishing well too. People put the most creative and cute things in that well!!

One of my most 'different' type gifts, that I liked was personalized stationary for me with my future last name on it. I couldn't use it until after the wedding, but thought it was a great idea!

Stuff like that stands out so much more than the things that came from our registry.
