What was the best/worst part of wedding planning?

Original post by rmsgirl

Best - Buying the flower girl dresses and watching DH try on tuxes.

Worst - Aside from $$$$$, doing the seating chart.

Best: Other than marrying my hunnybunny, it would have to be the DIY stuff. I loved having that creative outlet to keep my stress down.

Worst: RSVP's, seating chart, Budgeting...UGH DRAMA!!!!

Best: Counting down, planning, dreaming abt the big day, peaking at my registry every day, designing and printing menus, church programs, mint tin labels, etc.

Worst: guest list, DH working nights - made it harder to plan with DH, and stupid arguments

Best: I loved most of it...researching vendors, compiling inspiration pics, bridal mags, dress shopping, hair/makeup trials, centerpieces....I could go on.

Worst: Trying to make it all fit in our budget. That got a little stressful at times!

honestly, the 2 things that took the most time for me / us were

BEST- The Day I found my dress! I stumpled accros this buitique and it was like something out of a movie! BEST experience of my life!

Worst: Ummm everythign else. I planned my wedding 3 times in 1 year because my first two venues, both LI vineyards, screwed me. 1 actually disapeared with out $10,000 deposit that we weren't able to get back which hit or budget for the rest of the wedding really bad!

Oh well, still was a wonderful day!!

u lost a 10000 deposit????? i almost passed out.

Best - picking out all the various wedding accessories and discovering my own personal wedding style...stuff like the guest book, programs, card box, purse, flower girl stuff, etc.

Worst part - hearing people's opinions/disapprovals, not to mention finding out who really isn't a true friend. Am I the only one who had so called 'friends' who decided to drop off the face of the earth once I got engaged? I think some girls (and even some guys) get jealous and you really don't see their true colors until your wedding rolls around.

Re: What was the best/worst part of wedding planning?

Best - paying everything off and seeing all the pieces fit together, having a great BP and of course DH

Worst - Trivial thing: Invitations!! Couldn't decide, hated everything, finally found something I liked and barely sent them out on time
Serious thing: Knowing my grandma wasn't going to be there

YUP!!! We got the BBB involved and a lawyer and we weren't able t get anything back becasue the owner literally disappeared and left teh ineyard to someone else. I was lucky enought to get all my deposits back from the caterer's, florist, tent and table etc rentals, cake guy and averyone else I had already booked. It was heartbreaking. Even worse the hall we ended up with totally ruined the reception!!

Oh well, they say a disasterous wedding leads to a long and wonderfull marriage!!! I guess I'll be married for at least 75 year!

we are planning on throwing a kickass 10 year anniersayr party to try and make up for our disasterous wedding.

You said a mouthful! I had friends I know for 20 yrs. email me to say their congrats after I left a phone message to say we got engaged.

Best-realizing that I was spending my life with a wonderful man.

Worse-budgeting. Aggravation from my so called freind 2 wks before my wedding and DH's mom showing no interest in our wedding.

Re: What was the best/worst part of wedding planning?

Best: Seeing all my projects and ideas and planning come together as we packed everything up to drop off at the RH, and also seeing the room set-up privately with DH before the guests came into the ballroom. And finally getting to marry DH after 6 1/2 years together

Worst: All the stress and differences of opinion with my parents (DH & I agreed on everything! ), and trying so hard to make everyone happy while still having the wedding be what WE wanted. And the seating chart -- not making it, or figuring out who's going to sit together -- it was figuring out the placement of the tables in the room!
