Fun - I'm not sure it is fun so much as interesting - the basket of candles that you use throughout your marriage with a little poem about when you use them. Pink for your first Valentine's Day, Blue for your first fight, Yellow for your first baby, etc.

Sentimental - My grandma made a money bouquet - it looks just like a bouquet of flowers except there are one dollar bills and then there are 20s hanging down like a cascade. Then you use that bouquet for the rehearsal and it's up to you whether you take the money off and use it or just display it. I took the twenties off and kept the ones on and I have it displayed in my house. She made one for my mom and all my uncles wives.

Those are both great ideas, thank you! I love that candle poem, I want to do it for my FSIL!
Any more ideas please

Sentimental: One of my aunts got us a ton of embroidered towels monogrammed with our new initials...Bath towels and hand towels, along with a set of bath towels that say his and hers...It was unexpected, and definitely a hit....

Fun: Another one of my aunts got us a hanging welcome sign for our new place with different hand-made decorations for each month (heart for valentine's, bunny for easter, etc.). It was great because we didn't have many decorations yet.

Fun: Probably the little blue thong that my mom got me for my wedding day :) Which I didn't wear by the way but I once gave someone a little nightie, some massage oil and a book on erotic massage once

Sentimental: This wasn't a shower gift, but afer our wedding my mom sent away for a wooden sign that says 'The Lyner Home' on it and underneath it says 'Est. 2004' I thought it was so cute.

for my shower, I also got a Kenneth Cole duffle bag on wheels that is just the best piece of luggage ever. The person who got it for me bought it in TJ Maxx - they have the best deals on bags!!

My most fun shower present - outdoor service for dinner including all the extras. I love to entertain and the stuff is fun

My most sentimental present - the shower invitation framed. It had our picture on it.

Fun gifts - I don't really think I got any! Oh, my sister gave me a basket full of stuff and included in it were plastic grapes
My parents used to have a bowl of plastic fruit on the hutch so maybe that's why she did it! I never got around to asking her.

Sentimental - my dad gave me a Winnie the Pooh. On the card he wrote, 'here's a gift from me to you because you'll always be my Annie Pooh'. That was a nickname for me when I was little

That probably doesn't help you much!

Fun - My friend gave me a laundry basket filled with the towels I registered for. Each towel was rolled around bath gel, body lotion, bath salts, ect.

Sentimental - My mother gave me a quilt, she had sewn by hand. It took her three years to make it. She started after DH and I met, but always teased that it would be for whoever got married first, me or my niece who was 12 at the time

My best childhood friend (and one of my BMs) made up a basket for me. The first present she had me open was a Balik bell. You're supposed to ring the bell if you have a fight I think (It's an Irish tradition.) She also wrote 'If bell doesn't work, use basket.' She filled it with various items to keep the romance alive.

Off the top of my head- In the basket were:
a satin nighty
a bottle of red wine
perfume
a couple of books about romance and relationships
scented candles
chocolate
CDs

It was really touching that she took so much time to put this together for me (and DH too.)

That is SO sweet of her. I love that idea.

My most fun was my Basket of Candles (with the poem)

My most sentimental was the scrapbook that my girlfriend made me.

A gift that I really liked that I received was a smoothie maker. Not only did I get a smoothie maker, but in the basket was a book on smoothie recipes, tropical plastic cups and matching decorative dish towels, smoothie freezer pops, assorted premade smoothie mixes and little umbrella decorations all wraped up in plastic in a large basket. I thought this was a really cool idea, plus I use the smoothie maker all the time!

Fun my sister in law and I have this box we have been passing to one another and we fill it with a gag gift. She knows how much I love pink and had picked up this lingerie that was hot pink and had hot pink marabou feathers all over it.

Most sentimental was a sign my godmother got me. She knows one of the reasons why I was getting married on the second was because I love independence day. So she had bought me this sign that said 'Happy 4th of July' and I cried.

I also got this card from one of friends. She is old enough to be my grnadma, surived breast cancer twice and had facial cancer and what she wrote me in the card made me cry. Those are 3 things I will never forget!

This wasn't at my shower but at my wedding (they live out-of-state), but my 2 BMs from college, one gave me my wedding quilt that ahe handmade and the other gave me a handmade painting of a cherub that was in the rotunda of where we went to college. My two all time favorite and most cherished gifts.

wasn't at my shower, but my most sentimental gift was a wedding gift. One of the women we invited did a hand-stitched replica of our invite and framed it.

Fun: as shower gifts, this lady gave me a whisk with the frazzled looking egg guy on it (I saw it at Bed Bath and Beyond) and she took a bunch of potholders and dish towels and made them into an angel...so cute!

Re: What was the most ...

Those are all so nice! I loved getting fun and sentimental things!
My mom gave me a basket filled with 'wedding day things' - my lingerie, perfume, handkerchief, etc. I thought that was really thoughtful and fun!
My MIL gave me the silver serving set from her mother - that was very sentimental.

Not shower related, but a very sentimental gift was from my sister/MOH, who put together a scrapbook from beginning to end of our engagement and gave it to us at our RD - we looked through it and it almost made me cry. There were all these pictures I had never even seen before - so nice!!!

I used dread going to showers, but as I'm getting older and now that I'm married I love watching brides to be open presents that people took the time to pick out and watch the expression on their faces when opening things like lingerie or sentimental presents .
