if one of your wedding checks bounced? One of my 2nd cousins gave us a check for our wedding & a week after depositing it it came back NSF
Anyway, I emailed her to let her know - obviously this is an embarrassing thing to have to tell someone - but she had responded right away w/ 'oh we've been having trouble w/our bank & they took the mortgage out twice this month...give me your address again & I'll make sure you guys get the gift you were supposed to.' this was back on 8/31 - which as you can see is already just about a month now. I sent a 2nd email a few days ago & tried to play it off like we've been having problems w/our mail & just wanted to make sure your check didnt get lost...no response. It's bad enough for friends to bounce a check on you but you never expect this from family. Has this ever happened to anyone & if so how did you handle it?? TIA for your help!

Hate to be the barer of bad news but it sounds like your not getting your gift. Most people dont forget stuff like that so I dont think its slipped her mind.

We had a cousin do the same to us, we had MIL call and just to let them know it bounced as a courtesy she said she was sending a new check....needless to say, it never came

I agree, in this economy they might just not have been able to give a gift. I would drop it, you never know the real reasoning behind it and if it truly is the economy why ruin a relationship over this?
