I changed my last name at the Social Security office, but have not yet changed it at the DMV. Early next week we are leaving for vacation and will be flying.
At this point, what's my legal name? What it says on my license or new social security card? I don't have time to get to the DMV before we leave.

Re: What's my name?
I'm pretty sure it's whatever your license says.

Re: What's my name?
I was told your legal name is the name that is on your SS card.

Re: What's my name?
Depends on what you'll bring for your picture ID when you're travelling. If you're staying in the country I would do whatever it says on your driver's license...no one's going to ask to see your SS card...

Re: What's my name?
just make sure your airline ticket and photo id have the same name and you're fine. I still fly under my maiden name since I haven't yet changed my license or my passport, but I did change SS
Enjoy your trip!

Whatever your license says, that's what they are going to check.

Re: What's my name?
What name did you make your plane ticket in? I am assuming it's the one on your DL? If not...just bring your DL and your marriage certificate to prove that your new name is ok to use.

Re: What's my name?
Your legal name is the one on your SS card, but you should book your ticket under the name on your license until you change it. You'll have trouble getting on the plane otherwise.

Re: What's my name?
I asked the people at Customs. They told me what to do. I believe I used my old name.
