Re: What's you favorite wine?? (If you like wine)
you know me, I always have to be the odd one....
egri (a hungarian red wine) sooooo amazing. It's fruity, full-bodied and simply delish. Nothing pairs better with one of their paprika-filled dishes better
for white wine, it varies with my mood. If I'm in a light wine mood, a german riesling (after all, it's in the genes ), but if I want a fuller-bodied white, a good buttery chardonay

All of it! Seriously! The only wine I don't like is Reisling for some reason.
Just for my curiosity (if you don't mind me asking) - why you don't like Reisling? Is that because it they are sweet?
There are some Reisling that is actually pretty dry and you'll be surprise. Some Reisling from Australia's Eden and Clare valleys & the Marlborough region of New Zeal are dry but you can still smell fruity aroma.
The ones I've tried have been VERY sweet and I hate sweet wine! The drier the better! I'll look into your suggestions! I'm always up for trying more wine
oh yeah, there are definitely light fruity yet pretty dry rieslings... goes perfectly with mild fish fillets (my family is close to the north sea, where the traditional meal is fish paired with a crisp german white...

Ok...DH gave me some more information on Rieslings (he is my lawyer/wine connoisseur).
Riesling is actually one of, if not THE, most versatile grape varietals. Rieslings can range from very dry to intensely sweet.
Although traditionally a German varietal, Reislings from the Alsace region (on the France/German border) tend to be dryer.
When buying German Rieslings, look for the words 'Dry' or 'Trocken' on the label. Trocken means dry in German. Rieslings labeled 'Halb-trocken' will be sweeter.
WIth German Rieslings (in DH's opinion, the best Rieslings), also look for those labeled 'Q.m.P' or something like that...that means 'Qualitswein mit Pradikat' and is a sign that the wine has met certain criteria for the label. .
If you do not like sweet wines, stay away from German wine labeled 'Auslese', 'Berenauslese' or 'Trockenberenauslese' -- those are VERY sweet. WInes labled 'Kabinett' may have a touch of sweetness, but will be fairly dry.
In other regions, including the ones I mentioned earlier, look for 'Dry' on the label.
Also, 'White' or 'Johannesburg' Rieslings are the true Rieslings. Others labeled 'grey' or 'emerald' are not.
Alcohol content will help guide you with sweetness as well. The higher the alcohol, the dryer the wine will tend to be (because the residual sugar will have been converted to alcohol). Sweet wines will tend to be below 10%, although that is not a hard and fast rule.
I'm sorry to be so long, but we LOVE Reislings. It was the first wine that I really liked, and led me to so many others that I love now.
BTW...Reisling matches wonderfully with a wide variety of food.
heh, you sound like you also took a wine-tasting course! (would you believe, it was covered by my molecular bio scholarship.... becuase it deals with growing yeast and fermentation I love being a scientist sometimes )

I'd be all about this! How much fun would that be if we all went out to the wineries one weekend!?
