We just mailed the mortgage application on Monday, so we still need to be approved, and then we have to have a interview with the board of the co-op we're moving into. After that I guess will be the closing. So, I'm thinking that we won't actually be moving until the beginning of April.
We live in a 1BR now, but we have lots of stuff. When is a good time to start getting boxes and start packing? Since I'm pregnant every week I'm getting bigger and I don't want that to create a problem with moving later. If I wait until the end of March, I will be almost 7 months. Edited to add: what if we pack and don't get approved by the mortgage or board?

Don't pack too soon! It is horrible to live out of boxes like I did for a while. It is more frustrating to not be able to find stuff. Wait until you have a closing date that is defenete. I have sen too many people recently whose closing date was delayed three and four times due to unforseen problems.

You could start now if you have the room for the boxes. April is two months away and will probably go quickly.
Books, knick knacks, cd's that sort of thing that you don't really need until April. Maybe extra linens or towels (we have beach towels in our linen closet). Your summer clothes since you wont be able to wear them until after the baby is born.

We packed the things we had extras of, or like Christine said, knick knacks, etc. It makes it easier if you get some of it out of the way. Especially being pregnant, you may want to start and get some of it out of the way if you can. Starting a little early helped me too with packing things very organized, and getting rid of some stuff too. I had the extra time to really go through everything and get rid of stuff we have not used in a long time. Good Luck

now is also the time to be a bit ruthless when going thru your things. See what you trulyo need and make a pile of the things you are questionable about. See if anyone you know needs/wants those items...the rest ...have a yard sale and use the $$ towards the new living quarters.
As you get further along in your pregancy, if you are like me, you WANT to do things but you are too tired...and you should not lift or stretch up too much.

I would say start early. As far as not getting approved, as long as all your paperwork is in order you will be fine.

I would wait for the paperwork to be all in order than start packing. You will need help so start asking friends/family to help you. You cannot pack the whole place alone.

I guess I can start packing some stuff, like clothes that don't fit me right now, xmas stuff, books, cds, etc. But, the other thing I just realized is that our landlords are selling the place so we have buyers coming in to look at the place. I guess that's not my problem, but it's a small, 1BR and it's crowded. Maybe I should at least wait until the mortgage is approved, and then we'll have about 1 month until the board aprroves us.

We are having a house built in FL and that is next year. We went to Home depot and bought these huge bins and actually started packing things. Kmart had a huge sale on 106 piece dinner set service for 8 so we picked up 3 boxes, took everything out, rapped it and packed it. our entire hallway is bins. we also have a bin of all wedding stuff.
