My mom was a teacher, so she was home with us over the summer. We used to spend most of the summer at the beach, but for a few summers I went to dance camp up in Vermont.

Nope!! I went camping with the family a few times but not camping alone. I don't know about Michael though.

i went to music camp 2 yrs in a row in middle school/high school. it was NOT band camp - i'm a violinist, damnit
actually, i just reconnected with my camp roommate on facebook, who conveniently just got married the week after me!!!

No, my mom was a teacher and we have a summer house in CT on a lake that my mom used to pack us up and take us to. My dad would commute from the summer house to the city where he worked.

YES!!!!! I went for 2 wks when I was 10,. and they sent me home in the middle b/c I was so homesick that I was actually throwing up. It was AWFUL. Then, at 12, I wanted to go again.....my parents were reluctant, but let me. Again, I was miserable!
I tried again at 13, and LOVED IT.....and went every year after that. WHen I was 16 I went on a teen tour and was so homesick, that I wanted to die.
Overall, I think it depended on the camp/people there.

Never as a camper,,but I worked as a CIT because my best friend dragged me there! But thank god because thats where I met my DH!!!!!!!! At the YMCA!!!!! We even went back and shot our Love Story there!! it was soooo cool

I went to soccer camp. But it was local and for maybe 3 hours a night for 2 weeks. When I was 5 I went to Ivy league Camp. I hated it I cried everyday. They always made us go swimming in a freezing cold pool and we had to be there everyday at 8am. Since when is waking up early and going in ice cold water enjoyable.
