Where do I go to change my SS name..

Where do I go to change my SS name..

I live in Queens and would go to LI but not sure if I can. Can someone help me find a place where I don't have to spend hours at. Thanks!

I believe that if you live in Queens you have to go to an office in Queens. (ie if you work in the city...dont go to the one in the city bc they have hate signs everywhere and will send you back to queens.)

Anyway I had to wait an hour and it wasnt so bad. I also heard you can mail a form in but not sure how that works.

to change your name on your ss card in queens you have to go to the jamaica office. i went early in the morning and there was NO line at all....like, not even one person in front of me. i believe if you are a queens resident you don't get a choice as to which office you go to, it has to be that one. i will see if i can find the link for you!

thanks to the advice of a fellow LIW bride..

i went last week to the SS office in queens and got my card in the mail yesterday. It was a fast process. I did arrive there at 6:30am.. was 5th in line and was out of there by 7:15am ( they open at 7am). and at work in the city by 8:15!!

I went to the one in Melville and it took about 20 minutes

if you live in queens the only one you can go to is the one in Jamaica. (I know because I have already made teh mistake of going to other offices in queens and long island).
Get there as early as you can. Last time I went I didnt get there until about 11:30 and there was about 200 people on line so i just left

Look on the website....type in your zip and they tell you where to go
