Its a free site with a great restaurant search function - select NY/Neighborhood=Theater District, and the date and time you need; it'll give you a list of available restaurants, then you can sort by cuisine, or price or other criteria. Click on the restaurant name and you can read about their menu and decor; it'll even make the reservation for you. I use it all the time for fancy work dinners, its very good!!!!

Opentable is a great site to use...and I recommend it all the time but Bluefin is sooo yummy. It's in the W Hotel Times Square.

I work in the area and also used to live in the area. You absolutely must try Chez Josephine on 42nd btween 8th and 9th. Owned by Josephine Baker's adopted son.
My other area favorites are Bar Americain, Bobby Van's, Ruby Foos, Ollies (they revamped, are now on 42nd between 8th and 9th and are totally fantastic), McCormick & Schmidts, Divine Bar (they have a full food menu of tasting dishes with wine flights).
