white dots in my sweet potato.. help please

ok, so i just cut off both ends to my sweet potato & these white dots appeared so I thought to cut off another layer & the dots appeared again. Is this normal?

yes, i think so b/c I would cut off the end & it would bleed through some more... I still cooked it but does this mean that the potato is not good to eat.
