so i thought we could post who we consider the 'heroes' in our lives...
My mom who has ALWAYS been there with her unconditional love & support..she may drive me crazy sometimes, but I wouldn't be who I am today without her..she's been through a lot & has come out of everything stronger, and more amazing than she was before.
my grandma who is the most wise, most loving, most giving, kind & unselfish woman I know. My goal is to be HALF the woman she is...
my big brothers who've taken care of me since i can remember
and i know it's cliche, but i really just have to say my entire family. even though it's huge, we're just super close & always there for each other..i admire so many of them. it's an amazing thing...
My husband who loves me for me unconditionally.
& last but not least - my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ ;) NOONE will ever be as much a hero!
my husband is my hero!! he was there at 9/11 and was so brave.. he puts his life on the line everyday... im so proud of him

Re: who are the 'heroes' in ur life???
I've told my parents before my wedding how great I thought they were...and told them if I died tomorrow know that I had a happy life & that it was thanks to them...we didn't have much $ growing up but they taught us to appreciate nature, love animals, and help others...i thank them for making me the person I am today....
The other person is my Tae Kwon Do Master....he has been a HUGE influence in my life the last 7 years...i started TKD in Feb 2001...when i lived in Nassau...he not only teaches us the physical aspects...but the mental & spiritual as well. He knows how to push me...and has made me believe in myself and have confidence. He also teaches us the importance of giving back..and has the school participate in many community activities.
Since he knows I am training to take my police physical fitness test he has been helping me work on what I will be tested on...making me do pushups & situps and timing me...i am even using him as a character reference. He just is one of those genuinely good people...who teaches by example. And he is not into it for the $. When a nearby school closed & left many students high and dry with contracts but no more classes...he offered to honor the other school's contracts and teach all the students for free.
A few of us have become close friends with him...so like today after our morning class we sit and he shares tea and nuts with us...doesn't sound like much but it is a huge honor. (ok sorry this was so long)..the second pic is him & his wife dancing at my wedding.
Just had to add...he is such an incredible teacher...that i drive from the Hamptons to Lynbrook to take classes....tried a class out here and it was horrible.
& last but not least - my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ ;) NOONE will ever be as much a hero!
i have SOO many ppl in my life that I admire for different reasons (so many different family members)!
...But Jesus is my one true 'hero!' What a savior!
i wish i wasn't in class so i could watch the video, taryn. i will when i get home tonight.

Re: who are the 'heroes' in ur life???
believe it or not, this is my hero. she came into my life at the time i needed it most, and things have only ever gotten better since then.
My parents, for 2 people who had nothing when I was born they made sure that I didnt lose out on all the things a child should have or enjoy while growing up.
The hub-ster b/c he deals with my non sense, he always always has my back and keeps me confident no matter what I am doing.

Re: who are the 'heroes' in ur life???
I have a few who I truly consider heroes- first of course my parents which no matter what they gave me the life i had- because of them i am who i am today....
My husband- for always believing in me- treating me like gold and loving me for me.....
My grandmother- God rest her soul- she was my best friend and just an amazing person that I will NEVER forget
and last but not least all the pets Ive ever had- its because of them that make me happy- I dont know what I would do without my babies in my life- they truly bring me and my husband joy and I consider every single one that was/is part of my life a blessing....

my sister she is doing an EXCELLENT job raising a son with autism and a daughter with Asperger's syndrome - all while being there for the rest of her family. i dont know how she does it but it is inspirational!

my husband. He always does the right thing, believes in me, and most importantly, protects our freedom. I could never have the courage or passion he has and it amazes me everyday
Also, this is going to sound corny...but all the guys in my DH's platoon that I've met. They all look out for each other like they're brothers, yet they only met months ago. They're the sweetest guys and put their lives on the line everyday. Makes me wanna give them all tons of kisses they're all my heroes.

This is like a college essay.
My hero: My mother...she strived up from living in a camp for displaced people as a baby, to a house with dirt floors, to the ghetto in Manhattan, to bringing our family up...and now is a confidant and a friend.
