This is my third year teaching - I don't know if it is because it is the winter (the kids usually go crazy around this time, plus teh ELA is tomorow) but I am starting to hate coming to work - I never felt like this before about my job - i have a countdown til feb break - only 24 more days and after that starts my summer countdown lol

Re: who else is sick of their job?
Know how you feel, Jenn. I have been at this job three years too long!! I took the job because circumstances at the time deemed it necessary and I stayed because I kept saying 'It's going to get better-stick it out.' Well, three years later, here I am. Miserable every day and afraid to start over.

Re: who else is sick of their job?
Oh boy do I hear you. I have a part-time job that I love. I also had a job babysitting just a couple of hours a week. I started doing it 3 years ago when my DD was first born because I didn't work that year & we wanted a little extra income. After her first year, I got my part-time job, but then we got engaged so I figured I'd hang on another year to have some extra wedding $$. It was okay at first, but the situation hasn't been working for a while. I tried to tell myself to stick it out becasue the extra income is nice to have, but it's only gotten worse. I finally ****** up all of my courage & gave my 2 weeks notice yesterday.
ETA: Oh nevermind. Not 5 minutes after I posted this they called me & I somehow agreed to stay until the end of the school year.

Re: who else is sick of their job?
I AM! And I've only been here 4 months! But I do have something that looks very promising in the works, I interviewed on Friday and have second interview this Wed! Plus a separate interview some time this week for another position. Keeping my options open! Hopefully I'll be giving my 2 week notice on Monday if all goes well!

Re: who else is sick of their job?
Me ! I've been here for 13 years, working in 2 different departments. Just so jaded with this place. I have a huge project to work on, but just can't get motivated. No incentive either, with the lousy increase I got and the same story every year, the department is not soing so good, we've got to look forward, the budget, yada yada yada.....
Stuck in a rut is what I am.

Re: who else is sick of their job?
I'm soooo with you...it's definitely very typical for teachers to feel this way right after the holidays. The winter months are the WORST...such a huge crash and it feels like forever til the end of the school year.
I totally understand. It's scares me that I feel this way too

Re: who else is sick of their job?
I am starting to get there and I have been here for 1 1/2 years. I do enjoy it somewhat and some of my co workers but everytime I turn around it is do this or do that and it isn't even my work. It is really starting to piss me off. They need to get rid of 2 deadweights and they won't. It is too much work overload and not enough manpower. I might start looking around the company in a few months to see where else I can go for. I am just aggravated to no end.

Re: who else is sick of their job?
I was today! We had a two hour long ethics training and it made me want to crawl back to bed!
We used to call this time of year the 'Dark Ages' in college. I think the term is still appropriate, even in the working world.

I am sooo sick of my job & I've been there almost as long as you, lools.. just 3 months!!
What will you say is your reason for leaving? I've been thinking of ways not to offend my boss when I finally quit

Re: who else is sick of their job?
i HATE my job and have, pretty much since day one. it's tedious, unsatifying crap, that unfortunately ties in with the stock market, so i work 6am to 2pm or 5am to 1pm when the rest of the world is observing daylight savings time. but, it's really allowed me to focus more on my violin playing, so i gig A LOT now, which i probably couldn't do with a real important job.
however, i received a call out of the blue from a former non-profit contact yesterday, practically begging me to come work for her. . .she's supposed to get back to me with $$ info later this week and if the price is right, there's a good chance i'll go back into the non-profit world. . .keep your fingers crossed for me (and lools!!)
