Who is hosting Thanksgiving?

Who is hosting Thanksgiving?

And who are you having? I'm hosting my 1st Thanksgiving dinner with my parents, grandma, brother/SIL, two nieces. My oldest brother/SIL and three nieces are coming for dessert. I was trying to figure out how I'm going to sit everyone at the table yesterday?!? Thank god my sister and her family don't live in the state and that my other brother has plans. Whewwhhh.

I guess I should be EXTRA grateful this Thanksgiving that we won't be spending it with his miserable family. Not even a minute of my holiday will be poisoned with his toxic family.

Also, what are you planning on cooking? We're doing turkey w/stuffing and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, yams/sweet potatoes, beets, corn, asparagus, peas, rolls, tossed salad, Minnestrone soup, baked beans, pies, cakes, cookies. Oh yeah, and a PRICE CLUB sized bottle of Pepto-Bismol after all that stuff!

I don't know whether to feel hungry or sick.

My mom is hosting Thanksgiving. It will be my mom, stepfather,me and my husband,my uncle and his girlfriend & my grandma. My brother and his b*chy wife and 2 kids will be visiting her family this Thanksgiving. Me and my husband will be going to his cousin's house for desert.
I have no idea what's on the menu besides the turkey.I haven't asked. No matter what mom cooks, its always GOOD!

We are going to my mothers also. There will only be 5 or 6 of us so it won't get too nuts with all the food. I guess the standards - turkey, stuffing, sweet or mashed potatoes, a couple of veggies, rolls, salad and dessert.

I host Christmas Eve, my stepmom hosts Thanksgiving. I make the sweet pototo cassarole, string beans and cheese cake to her house. I also made choc. covered pretzels.
I love hosting holidays. It gives you a chance to bring out all of your pretty serving pieces and dishes. Plus you get to be around those that you love.

Re: Who is hosting Thanksgiving?

I really wanted to have Thanksgiving, both last year (our first married) and this year, but me and DH have the same little 'discussion' (translation, argument) over it! You see, Joe was always told by his grandmother about a girl's 'first turkey' and the horrors that insued from cooking the infamous bird! Not for nothing but, I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to make one!!! Just make sure you clean it and take out the bag with the gross crap in it! Baste it every so often and you're good to go, right? Then there's also the thing that he thinks we live in a shoebox and there's no room for anyone else other then us! The man needs to get a grip, honestly!!! (said very lovingly, of course )

So, yet another year, and no turkey for me. We will be travelling really far again -- going upstairs to his grandmother's!!! But my parents will be coming over also, so at least I don't have to worry about the your side/my side thing!

I totally agree about the turkey, Deb! I mean even *I* have cooked a reaonably good turkey, and Julia Child, I am NOT! It's MUCH more difficult to make a good 'gravy'!

I can't wait to have everyone over the holidays! There's nothing I like more than cooking up a ton of food and feeding friends/family. Our apt. is just too small...our dining room table comfortably seats four.

We're going to my brother's (his 1st T'giving!) this year. I'm bringing the cold antipasto (cheese, pepperoni, cappicole, artichoke hearts, stuffed peppers, sausage, olives, etc.).

We've soooo much to be thankful for this year. Hope everyone else is busy all day counting their blessings!
