Who is not planning on having kids for a couple of yrs?
I see that a lot of '09 brides are pregnant and want to be pregnant within a yr...is anyone waiting a couple of yrs?
I want to have a house, travel and finish my MBA so it will be like 3 yrs before we start. I will be 31 and DH will be 30. I hope we dont have issues getting preggo's

before im 30 according to my hubby, (im turning 28 dec 23!) but if it were up to me alone it would be like now! but as soon as we have a house im going off the pill

You have to decide what's best for you. We want to travel also. I'm still not sold on the baby issue but alot of my friends are having children and I think my aversion to having children is being worn down Not to mention my best friend sent me baby dust in my christmas card! ARGHHHHHH

We want to wait 2 years ideally. We're not sure if that means HAVE a baby in 2 years, or start TRYING in 2 years. We want to enjoy living together and having privacy first, be a little more financially stable, have a house, travel a bit...I don't think either of us are ready for a baby just yet. I still have time, provided that I'm healthy, which I have no reason to believe I'm not...I'm still 24, will be 25 in 2 months, and even if we waited 2 years, I'd be 27-28, which is about when I'd want the first one...of course, if it happens before that, we'll find a way to deal with it, and still be excited of course, then it was meant to be. DH is freaking out thinking I might be pregnant already haha....so I definitely think we're waiting a few years in a perfect world.

No baby for us right away. I always say before I am 30 (I am 26 now) but we'll see. I would like to own a home, travel some more and go back to school and get my Masters in education before we start having kids. I have lots of nephews, so I get to enjoy them and give them back .
My SIL, who has a 6 month old boy, told me that when I wake up one day and decide that I don't want to sleep anymore, and I don't need freedom to do whatever I want, then I should have a baby

We are not waiting but that is because I am 36 now. We dont have the luxury of waiting.....plus I have done plenty of the things that many of you still want to do.
deciding on the right time to start a family is a very personal decision and everyone on here will have a different time-line and for different reasons......none of which are right or wrong.....just different

Oh wow....with that type of talk from your SIL who wouldn't want to have a baby right now, LOL!!!!!!!!
Thats what scares me...no freedom to do what I want..I need to get out of my selfish stage which I am hoping starts now!!! But will take time to get used to.

Me & My DH. We have no plans anytime in the near future (like 8 years) in having kids...and if in those 8 or so years we still don't want them, we said we are both just fine without having them ever.
I am soooo selfish and so is my DH and I want to do everything for myself and wouldn't want to bring a child into this world in that environment. DH & I are also very spontaneous and love our freedom. Maybe we'll change our minds sometime down the road but for now we're totally into traveling and getting things done for ourselves.

since we got married DH was bugging me pretty much pleading and begging me and i kept the answer as NO not yet. i am glad to say that after a thanksgiving w/ his niece and nephew all by himself (w/out me a round) he quickly changed his mind and wants to wait a little while
why are the women always right?

I will be 30 in March, so no, I don't plan on waiting much longer then a year or two at most.

We're waiting awhile too. DH and I were in a long distance relationship for 6 years and we want to enjoy each other and our new life together first. We also want to travel a lot too so no babies and no puppies for awhile. I just turned 24 today and if we have our first baby at 28/29 I'd be happy.

we're waiting... im not ready for our new place and new furniture to get ruined... lol all kidding aside, we both agree that we want to wait... its just not the right time... we still want to be able to do what we want, when we want... oh yeah, and getting a full nights sleep as well is also nice LOL

If it was up to me ... within the year we'd start trying. DH wants to wait 2-3 years to start ... so I think we have compromised and decided that around our second anniversary we will start. But if I can get him to change his mind before then ...

We are waiting a year or so.. No rush! I'm a bit selfish! We have two houses right now and feel we have more than enough space to raise a child. But I love my comfort level now! I'm still young.... 25.. I'm still decorating our primary home and renovating the second home... (Too Much ) Sometimes I get the baby itch but its not the serious lets start now itch... I guess when I'm ready my hormones will scream!

We're waiting at least 5 years so I can get through my PhD (if I get into a program) and to get ourselves more financially settled. Plus I'm a little young. By then DH will be 32 and I'll be 29, so it's a good time all around.

I have baby fever already but ideally we're going to wait at least 1-2 years. We need to save money and hopefully buy a house. We're both 26 so we have a few years to hold off.

We're already trying We're both young (I'm 24 he'll be 27 in a week) but we both really want kids and we've both always wanted to be younger parents. My mom had me when she was 23 and I always liked that I had a 'younger mom. But I totally get why some people like to wait and enjoy their freedom first. There are days that I just don't want to ger out of bed after 8hours of sleep and I just can't imagine getting up after being up all night with a baby. But the pull on my hearstrings to be a mom always wins!

well we are going to in about 6 months but only bc we're OLD. . so I think waiting can be great bc you will never have that time with just the two of you again. . but I'm worried if we wait there won't ever be a three of us! but I think that whomever said. . everyone's timeline is great - do what feels right for you!
