Who knew?

Who knew?

Did any of you girls go ring shopping with your DH before the proposal?
Did any of your girls know when he was going to ask you to marry him?

Re: Who knew?

I knew we'd get engaged eventually, but I wanted to be totally surprised. And I REALLY was. We talked a lot about what kind of ring I wanted, so he knew what I liked but when shopping by himself.

Re: Who knew?

I had no idea when DH was going to propose. He had been acting weird all night, but I thought it was because he wanted to make our date special and it was freezing so he was annoyed.

If I had known he was going to propose I would have probably thought it would have been a princess cut cause he knew I liked the square shape stone, but I didn't know what he was going to do with it.

NO and NO!

We had gone and looked at rings...and I knew it was going to happen at some point.....but I totally did not know he had bought a ring and really didnt know he was going to ask when he did.

Re: Who knew?

kind of long story...we talked about what kind of diamond i wanted...i didn't know if DH had gotten it or not (he traveled to Israel for business & has a dealer friend there).

Then he got laid off, my Dad flipped out about me mentioning us moving if he got a new job out of state...my Dad said I'd be a fool to follow Dh cause we weren't even engaged...blah blah (we lived together 4 years...and I knew we were gonna get engaged eventually)

When i told Dh about my Dad making me cry...he left the diamond on my keyboard as a suprise with a note saying that that was not the proposal but to know that it was coming someday....that shut my Dad up..but DH is still mad at my Dad for him having to 'prove' himself...

months later i was meeting a friend in the city & went looking at settings...then DH called her to find out what i loved without me knowing...and he suprised me with a trip to Hawaii...where he did propse...so it ended up being a suprise...but i knew it would be coming eventually...sorry so long.

Re: Who knew?

DH and I did not discuss an engagement or do any ring shopping.

DH bought the ring on his own - but my friends helped out since they knew the ring style that I liked.

I was hoping for a proposal so I was just ready for one on every weekend and holiday for about 3 months. It was torture!!!

Re: Who knew?

Well...unfortunately I had to know. The army is tricky and you have a very short time span to get married before all the trainging and moving starts. If we didnt get married this spring, we didnt even know if we would have another opportunity to do it for several YEARS and if we did, it would have to have been a very small wedding planned in about a months time. And since we had been together for 5 years already we were ready. SO, we had no choice but to plan the wedding for this spring. We had talked about having a year to a year and a half engagement, so in the winter I knew it would be coming some time soon.

I also went with him to pick the setting, but he picked the diamond himself.

In a perfect world.....we would probably have waited another year or two to get married if he wasnt in the Army. And I would have loved to be totally surprised.

We looked online, but didn't go out to stores or anything. And I had NO idea when he was going to propose. It was a splendid surprise.

Re: Who knew?

I had no idea he was going to propose. He had been acting weird for an entire week. He was so short with me every time we would talk on the phone. When I actually saw him, I was aggravated at them and then he asked

Re: Who knew?

Nope! When we were in Europe on our cruise a few years ago, we were just kindve shopping and at the same time going into jewlery stores. We went into the Chopard store in Paris and i was like OMG that ring is insane! wow LOL! it was not a hint by any means at all though i say alot of things in stores are so nice ya know, we all do that....and he picked that ring to propose to me a year later b/c he knew i liked it. It was unreal

I had ABSOLUTELY no idea! I knew we would get married one day - but I had no idea that he was ring shopping or planning on proposing.

Re: Who knew?

I had no idea. We went on a cruise for our 5 year anniversary and nothing so I was convinced that it wasn't coming for another year. Two weeks after the cruise we were just sitting at home and he did it. I was absolutely shocked.

I had hidden a picture of the ring that I wanted in between the coasters on our coffee table. He must have found it one day because he proposed with that exact ring.

Re: Who knew?

I designed a ring years ago just for fun and he saved it....about one month before he proposed he asked me if I wanted that same ring--I didn't think much of it until one night (about two weeks before the proposal) I got really upset at his gig since this guy kept bugging ME about when we would get engaged (we dated for 7 years before that!!) and it got to me despite he said this to me at almost every gig.

Well at the end of the night I told DH how it really pissed me off/upset me....he said 'DOn't worry you won't have to wait long' I said, 'I know--you only have two guitars tonight' (thinking he meant waiting long about going home) then he just looked at me--and I was like 'Ohh' and kissed him....

I convinced myself it would not happen on my birthday trip to Cancun--didn't want to be disappointed--well he did it the morning we were leaving and shocked me and made the trip even more amazing!!!
