ignore my spelling you wouldnt think I was a nurse ....does any one know why this is making a comeback or how people vaccinated are getting it ? have any of you heard of this??

I've heard of it, but didn't know it was making a comeback. Probably people from other countries that are not vaccinated are infecting people thru travel. Just like anything else, must be some new 'strain' of the disease that is reistant to the vaccines.
Don't you need a booster shot for this ? WebMD, here I come.
Measles are big in Austria right now, and an infant from TelAviv has it and exposed everyone on a flight to NY recently. The child was also at the Source Mall on Thursday.
eta : you need booster shots to keep you protected. It is a bacterial infection that is easily spread. Starts out like a normal cold but then progresses to the 'whooping cough' stage.

Hi there, I found a link that's helpful, but what do you think... could it be that with some parents delaying/skipping infant immunizations (perhaps due to the uncertainty regarding a link to autism) more kids are getting it/transmitting it? I am really fuzzy about the autism/vaccine link, I know its not 'proven' but I think many couples are opting for delayed/reduced immunizations while the verdict is still out?
my son got diagnossed yesterday Im not sure if it was from an odd nasal swab they did or blood work .....hes on alot of medicine to aleviate the cough and the pain its causing...he was vaccinated on time etc...the pediatrician and all the docs I have harrased told me basically the same thing ...as more people are not vaccinated wether by choice or other countrys these things become more and more common and even though someone is vaccinated if the strain is even a tiny bit mutated they can get it .....UGH my kids can never just have a cold .....

Ugggh how rough for your little guy; a friend's DC had it, I saw him while he was sick, it was actually SCARY seeing him cough like that. No fun for you OR him, hope he gets well soon!

Oh I hope the litle one gets better soon.
Reading web MD was kind of scary. That's why I'm borderline neurotic about people coughing and sneezing on the bus that I take, especially since it is like an airplane with recycled air.
