Workplace Crushes
So...does anyone have them? What's your feelings on them, is it normal/healthy or not so much?I mean...let's be honest here. We're all married, not dead. We can lookie, but no touchie, right?
LOL...since starting my new job, I guess I'm not used to being exposed to so many people...of which includes men obviously....this one guy is so hot to me, which means of course that he's completely normal looking and unassuming and really not hot hot, but I think so. Works in a different department than me, but I have to pass his desk every day to get to my department and to go out and back from lunch, etc. So we see each other every day, he's said good morning a few times, just being polite of course. Then today when I was coming in he was loitering at the time card swipe machine and started to talk to me, asking me where I lived because he saw a girl that looked just like me out and said hey whats up to her, but then she just gave him a weird look, so he thought maybe then it wasn't me, or it was me being weird. So I was really taken aback, cuz it's been a while since I've been around the block obviously, but it seemed like being chatted up, and I enjoyed it, and then I felt guilty. Dammit! Like I'm back in middle school again....ergh. Just weird cuz I don't even know the guys name, but he's cute, and he's thinking he's seeing me outside of work...weird. I just tried to be polite and chat back without seeming like I was throwing myself at him while also not being rude and ran off with a shiz eating grin on my face...what's wrong with me???
I mean, nothing's going on and it's not like I'm going to act on it or anything...but I can't help having a school girl crush on this guy. Just wondering if anyone else has harmless little crushes on their coworkers or if I'm the only fruit loop haha.

Re: Workplace Crushes
the only people in my office this past year were students and my 70 year-old admin assistant. none of them were crush-worthy
, but there's nothing wrong with looking at a cute guy--as long as that's all it goes to!

Re: Workplace Crushes
I see nothing wrong with looking but when it gets to this is my 'work husband' or 'work wife' then I think it crosses the line...I worked with a few people who did this and I just felt it was inappropriate because it was just more than just being friendly and a little flirty

ITA. We had someone at my old job who would go from girl to girl in our lab (I did research) and make each one of them his work wife for a few months even though all the girls were engaged or married or in long term relationships. It was really weird.
In addition, I totally flirt with guys all the time, but one of the first things out of my mouth is always, 'my husband,' this way they know I'm off limits and it's just harmless. The one guy who didn't get the point I stopped talking to and made it pretty clear I didn't want to be around him anymore.

Re: Workplace Crushes
Nope, don't have one and I never have. I find the whole work wife/husband thing to be weird. I have one that sits by me, both of them are single though, and they are soo annoying that I actually have to get up sometimes and take a walk for a few minutes. Imo it takes away from a professional evn't when you have 2 people whispering nonstop, giggling, throwing pencils at one another..but whatever floats your boat. My next job I will be with all women, so won't be having a work husband anytime soon.

Re: Workplace Crushes
Hahaha don't feel guilty! You did nothing wrong? What were you supposed to do? Wave your wedding band in front of his face and run in the opposite direction??There's nothing wrong with having male friends and it's not your fault if one of those male friends is interested in you!
ETA: But I'm not gonna lie, while my office is huge... it's slim pickins.
There is one guy that I always talk True Blood/Dexter/Lost with and he sits by my desk for a long time to chat. When I got engaged I called his department for something work related and I was talking to one of our co-workers and I told him I got engaged. He announced it to the rest of the dept. and the guy I hear the guy I'm always chatting with in the background go 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!'
We definitely still flirt a little- he has a girlfriend though for the past 2 years and he knows I'm married. He was even invited to the wedding!
