Workplace etiquette

Workplace etiquette

When two people are talking DO NOT just turn around in your chair and listen to the entire conversation WHILE staring. yes, I know we have no walls or doors but even more of a reason to respect the privacy of others.

When you are on the phone do NOT scream at the top of your lungs so the person on MY phone can only hear YOU and not me

Do NOT repeat other people's stories - let THEM tell it. No matter how 'funny' you think the story is.

If someone nears you fumbles on a phone call do NOT start hysterically laughing. We are all adults it isn't funny.

if someone is doing someone on their computer it is NOT okay for you to comment on it, again - privacy should be respected. ESPECIALLY when it is a BANK statement!!

Okay done thanks.

Re: Workplace etiquette

when you are on a conference call, SHUT YOUR DOOR and don't have it turned up to the LOUDEST POSSIBLE volume so that ANYONE within 50 feet can hear the call LOUD & CLEAR - YOU STUPID MORON.

Tilde, I may have to question what line of work you're in........who are you 'doing' on the computer?? j/k.......sorry I couldn't resist!

ETA- feel free to vent away!!! you have to when you're in cubicle land.....so many people lack common courtesy when you work in close quarters- my cubicle wall is only a foot tall!!!!! so basically I can stare at the person across from me all day! I hate it!!!! and he constantly wears his headset and I always think he's talking to me!! all day long I'm constantly saying 'what?? oh you're not talking to me?' lol

If I am busy and typing on my computer DO NOT walk over and talk about how your son lost his keys on the train and your other son is worried about what college he is going to!

PS - This happens on a daily basis. If I am not looking at the person and not really responding to their boring stories, why do they stand here day after day talking to me! Arghh!

My old boss used to keep her door open when she was repremanding people and I could hear her yelling at them.

Re: Workplace etiquette

wow I wish you could have told this to my old boss. I'd be in my office on my break and I'd turn around and he would be standing there looking at the computer screen. I can relate to how annoyed you are right now!!!
