Would any of you...

Would any of you...

Consider selling your wedding dress? Someone I work with asked me if I was keeping mine... I was like 'what do you mean' and she said 'you have a really gorgeous gown, you could get decent money for it'. I never thought about it, and have mixed emotions....would LOVE any extra money at this point, but wonder if I would feel weird after? What do you girls think?

Maybe I'm still too new of a newlywed, but the thought of selling my dress makes me cringe. My plan was to make a Christening gown out of it, but at the moment, even sharing the fabric with my future children bothers me.

If somebody wanted to buy or even have my dress I would do it. It's not like my DH's suit which he can wear. I would love to let someone else have it and use and enjoy it as much as I did.

I don't think I could sell mine. My SIL did and she felt really good about it because it was a Vera Wang and the girl who bought it had been looking for it everywhere--it had been discontinued and the company only now only made it to order at, what you can imagine, an astronomical price. There was no way this girl could afford it. So, SIL was really pleased that she was able to help, the dress made the girl sooooo happy!

I don't know- I actually did have that thought the other day. But my mother would be crushed.

I am going to use the train to hopefully make a christening gown one day. My train was detachable so it won't affect the dress.

Nope. I'm using my dress and veil to make the layette for our first child's bassinet. I understand it being pointless to sit in your closet forever but I'd find some other thing to do with it.

Oh, and I also want to save a scrap of the beadwork to sew into the inside of my daughter's wedding dress (if I have one who gets married!) as her something old.

Here too. I just don't have much sentimental attachment. It's just a thing--my memories of the day are what matter to me.

I don't really know. It's at the bridal shop now, being cleaned & put in a box. If it never came back, I wouldn't be crushed. I'm never going to wear it again, but for some reason I can't go & actively sell it. Maybe b/c it woudl upset my mother. If soemoen was in a bind though, I would definiteley give it to them.

I don't know if I could sell it, but if someone I knew wanted to use it, I would probably let them. I am not that attached to it that I couldn't let it go for a good reason. I don't think I would get enough $ for it for it to be worth selling.

absolutely not!! It belongs to Danielle now, and she has every intention on wearing it on her wedding day.

I definitely could, for the right price! I already tried to sell it on ebay but the reserve was not met so I did not sell. My gown cost so much money though that I would not sell it cheap just to sell it. If no one will pay what it's worth to me, then I'll keep it.

Guess I'm in the minority here, but as soon as I get it back from the cleaners, I'm putting it up for sale. I need house money and it'll just sit in my closet taking up space. I loved my dress, but I don't feel any need to hang on to it. It did it's job and did it well--maybe someone else will feel that way with it. I am, however, keeping my tiara

This is exactly the way I feel .. as Heidi and Beth both said, I would love for someone to be able to wear my dress and feel as magical as I did that day in it.

And I don't really feel this 'attachment' to my dress that some other past brides do. It was wonderful and I LOVED my gown - but I also feel no symbolism or attachment to it whatsover anymore. Once I took it off, my magical , perfect wedding day was over - and I have it preserved on film and photos.. So really, I would have no qualms about parting with it at all

I do, however, like the ideas of turning it into a christening gown or somehow incorporating the dress into special items for my future children. If I weren't to ever sell it or another bride couldn't wear it, I'd definitely do something like that
